Must be pretty upsetting when you finally notice that Toronto appears to be one of the best run franchises in the league right now.

The team with unlimited funds should be the best run. Most money to spend on things that aren't capped like management scouts ect.

We ever get that Eichel blog. Or did he just completely ignore it because he finally realized he can't write worth a (frank)ing poopty diaper?

I was standing in front of the tv, doing the peepee dance because I'd been drinking semi-heavily. That reality tv style commercial break before the big reveal was tough man.

After the result my mind was blown, I was in the bathroom chugging a beer while pissing, yelling YEAH! YEAAAAH! to an empty house. A moment of Leafs triumph was really strange to experience after so long.

I did learn from him that Buffalo is closing on pouncing on Stamkos. That is some ace sports journalism right there.

Lucas really needs to take over as the Leafs main blogger. Once a week isn't nearly enough for the entertainment value Lucas provides us.
I can pretty much read whatever C & P job Mike does daily on a variety of other sites.
If Lucas is game to do a daily Leafs blog, I say we all try and push for that.

They sure used some of that money on the coach. Imagine, say, Ballard (sorry to say the name) opening up the Carlton Street Cashbox to actually help the team win? Or remember that thing about how Gretzky would have signed here but ownership wouldn't sign off?

He said that right after the Leafs being given the 1st pick. I don't even mean to be hating, but why would Stamkos leave TB to go to Buffalo? Might as well say he's going to Winnepeg

the gretzky stuff pisses me off but it didn't really matter i guess. that was 96 or 97 right? after playing for the blues. the leafs sucked then. i would've loved to see him play here regardless though.

Buffalo is looking good for the future, but really. If he's going to leave a contender in Tampa Bay for a team that is rebuilding, why wouldn't he do that in TO under Babcock? If he goes to Buffalo I'll gladly stand corrected, but there really aren't convincing reasons to believe that and there are reasons to suspect he'd look at the Leafs.

Is Matthews gonna be better than Mackinnon? lets not get ahead of ourselves
- pinksocked

Yes. He's been better than Eichel at level of the USDP. And Eichel looks like he's going to turn into a pretty good player.

I don't think anybody is in it to win it. It's about money and fame. Why not go to a place that has the world watching? I know some fan is gonna get butt hurt over this, but I'm looking it as the actual place to play. (frank). i'd stay in TB. Great weather, lots of money.

He would have played for 2 milliion a season, paid out over 20 years. That was the deal Gretz went in with. Read 67. You'll (frank)ing want to punch your balls.

Yeah, no winter and just the regular thing of being established in a place and not wanting to move is a factor. The big stage and affinity for the logo can be a draw, but only if it's a good situation. The management group helps there, making this thing seem legit in Toronto now. Guess we'll see. I do wonder what was left to haggle over if he was going to resign in TB? Why play hardball and go to UFA, make your GM answer questions about it and so on?

I do think winning is a factor. The Red Wings were a magnet for good players because they were always contenders.
