The next goalie you trade for.

So move assets when you could just draft one yourself?

fans are suggesting they draft goalies is all I am saying

i dont know if thats necessary

- senstroll

You have to draft some goalies. Leafs haven't in 3 years. It's not absurd to think they may take a stab at Hart or Gustavsson in this draft with one of their 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.

That's all I am saying

Just about every freakin' goalie drafted is a "hope and pray". You can count on one hand in the last 15 to 20 years that a goalie was a sure thing picked high in a draft.

Fleury

Barrasso (OK, too far back)

It's funny - there's 5 there.

So you were right - you can count them with one hand.

It would be smarter to pay a slight premium for a guy who's showing signs or on his way to being an NHL calibre tender than to just take a shot in the dark with a later pick.

Precisely why I'd want to use a top 60 pick on one.

Some pretty underwhelming numbers.

What makes this kid worthy of burning a pick on?

Leafs have gone about it all wrong with goalies.

You need to have numerous goalie prospects, whether they are in the system or being scouted and talked to all the time (guys outside the immediate spotlight)...as it takes a while for some to mature...I can't believe we havn't drafted one in three years!

Goalies are usually a long term project. Some complained when the Habs drafted Fucale because they already have Price.

he needs to find one that is ready to take over via trade or UFA and also he needs to draft a good prospect for medium/long term

Which makes no sense. Price isn't immortal and doesn't have a fountain of youth.

They'll be stoked when he's 35 and winding down and they have Fucale just entering his prime
