A. Canucks trade Tanev, plus 2nd rounder for the 4th overall. If they need to, they can toss in a prospect or other pick. Key is to get rid of Tanev for the 4th overall.

4th overall? That's it?

I'd like to see a real team in the ice before I start judging the goalies. Too harshly.

Sparks may turn into a Reimer but I don't see a ceiling above that. As for Bernier, his compete level and lack of focus is alarming. Sure he has made some good starts but he has showed that he is consistently inconsistent. I'd bring in a better goalie and see if he pushes back to get the net. There is a reason LA let him go for Matt frattin and Ben Scrivens he doesn't have the mental make up to be elite ...only so long you can be a prospect.

In regards to "wait and see". The leafs played a much better system and were more competent on defence this year then they have been in 10 years. Bernier had his shot this year and showed me all I need to see. He is not the answer as a starter

Tanev for the 4th?? Are the Canucks dumb enough to do that?

Toskala has one of the worst seasons by a goalie in history. Trade their first round pick before the season starts. Should be FINE
- AdamFrench

Yeah, but Toskala had two hip surgeries that off season.

Goalies usually get better after hip surgeries, right?

Go ahead and make the deal, Burkie.

And if Cammalleri shows up at the ACC on July 1st begging to be a Leaf, laugh in his face and slam the door.

We don't need a centre - we have Stajan!!!!!!!!!

Only the 4th for that package? You might be able to get the first or second overall.

Wow. Toskala is the goalie coach for a tier 2 Finnish team. Who the (frank) would trust him on goaltending?
- AdamFrench

Pretty funny, considering he refused to ever listen to Allaire.

I was looking for a Toskala quote on Allaire, and came across this:

Funniest.

Poop.

In the case of our goaltending situation, if the best goalie in draft isnt scooped up by 30, we should

Says you.

I like Hart, and therefore disagree. Hell, even Parsons from London has picked it up.

Would be a decent change of pace to draft one of the top ranked goalies available in the draft for once, instead of using up a 6th or 7th rounder and praying they turn into King Hank.

Then you have a Biggs pick all over again, take the best player, if they are all about at the same level, take the centre.

Here's the reality: we have 12 picks this year.

Pens pick and Leafs 2nd rounder will be mighty close. If one of your 4 picks in the first 2 rounds include a goalie, I don't see that as a bad thing in any way.

Hell, the Leafs system is super thin on Defense, and their goaltending depth is even worse!

How can you quantify "best player available" when you are comparing skaters to goalies?

If a goalie is the top ranked goalie in the draft, you have to think they could be in line with at least the first 30 skaters. Certainly the first 60

No need to waste a pick on a goalie let alone a top pick. They take too long to develop and are such wild cards for the most part. We should be able to pluck a good one off somebody for cheap once the expansion rules get finalized

I'll agree to disagree. Expansion is no guarantee and, even though I have been harping about jumping on a team with a tandem to acquire one of their goalies, it would be nice to have some in our system that weren't "hope and pray" kind of guys.

Anyway, whatever Hunter decides, I will be fine with

Just about every freakin' goalie drafted is a "hope and pray". You can count on one hand in the last 15 to 20 years that a goalie was a sure thing picked high in a draft.
