I find it funny why people are so concerned with this just now when there have been previous winners even older that Panarin.
- As_I_See_It

I'm not concerned. Just discussing a current topic in the game.

i know... and i was against those too

when a guy has close to a decade of pro experience in another league he should not be eligible for rookie of the year.

i mean... this guy was playing pro games 4 years before mcdavid was even in junior

Because he's going to win it by a landslide and without him in the race there is more speculation...or some poop like that.

Leafs willing to trade the pick for someone with more leadership.

I remember Curtis Lazar being noted for his leadership abilities his draft year. Would the Sens consider a Matthews for Lazar offer? Would we add? I don't really want to give up on Matthews so soon, but the thought of Lazar? It's tempting

how about Zaitsev? Or is he too old? Oh wait..

- MCharisma91

I think so. He's an established player in terms of size and age. He's in his prime and I dknt think guys in their prime are rookies.

He also played in the KHL since he turned 17...which is impressive and shouldn't be held against him. Only guys like Tarasenko, Kuznetsov and Cherepanov (RIP) have done that.

oh i am not saying he is a bad player.... but he is far more developed as a player than other rookies... and there is no denying that

he isnt a rookie hockey player, plain and simple... just because its his first year in the NHL it doesnt change that.

to be fair, it was in the context of hannifin vs. marner.

but still, just blind leaf hate. both are good prospects.

I also see that I missed the Coyotes naming a 26 year old their GM. One of those, "I'm almost 26, what am I doing with my life" moments.

Alexei Emelin - Andrei Markov
Dmitry Kulikov - Alexey Marchenko
Dmitry Orlov - Nikita Nesterov
Anton Belov

Russia's defense is a (frank)ing mess

Emelin sucks balls. Markov is ancient.
Marchenko is a 5-6 rookie. Nesterov is a 5-6. Orlov is a good 4-5 guy. Belov couldn't even make the top-6 of the (frank)ing Oilers.

Kulikov is the only good one and he's not even a number one defender

Are all these players under 23?

I (frank)ing love the defence.. i think i might cheer for this team to win it all.. I think McDavid is already the best player on the planet.. and the defence is so young so they'll be able to run all over some of the Peitrangelos of the world who are burned out.

If Lou isn't already on the phone to this poor way-in-over-his-head bastard, Shanny needs to punch Lou in the face.

Time to fleece the hell out of him.

I'm beginning to think that Garf's proposal of Matthews for the 'yotes OEL, Domi, Strome, 7th overall pick and "other draft picks" is not enough.

A friend of mine was in on this as an engineer. Not sure if it's interesting, sad, or both.
