First off. I'm not a big fan of a Stamkos to TO deal. With that being said I think it's inevitable.
He's not signing in Buffalo. He's not singing in Montreal. This isn't about money and it's not about winning. If it was, he'd just stay in Tampa. Neither Buffalo or Montreal can guarantee anything but the same dollars everyone else tied to this fiasco could. There's only one city that can offer him the obvious intangible he's looking for. It's obvious and anyone who says different is either dumb, delusional or being just plain oppositionaly defiant and jealous (looking at you Garf).
Personally.... I hope he stays in Tampa. I'd rather have Hedman anyway |

I can appreciate some of you thinking he will be going to Montreal, NOT going to happen, he would sign in Buffalo before Montreal. If he is going to be playing for a Canadian Team , it will be Canada's team and everyone knows that's the leafs...Give you heads a good shake....
I know the habs are but hurt, put its very obvious your team is only A goalie, I don't need to remind you what happened after Price sat out... There is no future in Montreal for Stamkos, Ohhh wait you have PK at 9 mil a year... - SteelmanTO
Subban is one of the better dmen in the league. overpaid? maybe. but you cant count out his skill |

If Stammer and his agent insist on 10 million per year, let him walk. He's not worth that kind of money to this team.
Sure, he is a generational, elite, goal-scoring sniper. There are a ton of positive things to say about him.
Yzerman has brought the Detroit template and applied it masterfully to Tampa. Tampa has depth out the wazoo - probably one of the deepest teams in the league. There aren't too many teams who could lose a guy like Stamkos and not miss a beat, but Tampa is one of those teams (IMO).
His value to the Tampa "brand" is great, but teams win championships, not single players. This team can win without him, and Tampa represents (arguably) his best shot at winning a Cup without having to wait several years during a rebuild. Toronto is moving in the right direction, but still has a long way to go before they are a contender. Ditto for Buffalo. Tampa is there now. If he walks, it's his loss, not Tampa's.

IN two years Who gets to wear 91 for the Leafs?
Tavares
Stamkos
Seguin
Taresenko
Or do they rotate it? - ImThatGuy
Auston Matthews will wear 91 |

Stamkos is a great player, but Tampa has a lot of talent to sign and if he's not willing to lower his price then goodbye Stammer. |

Safe money would be that he goes home to Toronto, but you never know... I'd be shocked if he stayed in Tampa. It's all guess work. Maybe he wants to be a west coast guy and wants to play on the Ducks? Who knows? It's all up to Stevie.. |

Is he a gifted vocalist as well as a gifted hockey player?
Frankly... if the sticking point is he doesn't want to sing in MTL I'm sure management will add it into his contract.

He's coming to Montreal to play with his best bud Subban, providing Bergevin grows a pair and offers him a massive contract.
Montreal isn't even in the running guy, but keep dreaming. |

meh...
not the worst thing that could happen...
One thing is for sure, its up to Stamkos what he wants to do. Nothing against the city of Buffalo, but playing for the Leafs is a much bigger deal. - Arctic_AARDVARK
How is it a bigger deal exactly? Both are NHL teams, both are in crazy hockey markets the only 3 differences I can think of is the absolute horrible media you guys have in Toronto, original six and Stamkos family living in that area. |
