I look for the Pens to push the offense tonite They will not sit back. The best defense is to have the best offense. Look for the time to be spread among the D and everyone contributing. They will control this game against that lame defense that the Caps will trot out there.

pens need to keep the caps hemmed in their own zone

Hopefully they can really take advantage of the horrible bottom pairing of the Caps.

I think if Fehr was in serious trouble of not playing we would have called up someone else.

Thanks! I just don't want them dressing Sestito and having him run around like a fool. The Caps have more bullets in that regard and our lone bullet is a blank.

You know if Stralman is close to playing or even practicing?

I agree with you and I think Sullivan probably agrees with you. There were plenty of games while Sestito was up where Sullivan had strong insentive to deploy an enforcer but didn't. The only games he played were 100% meaningless. Then in the post season Sullivan ellected to play 7 defensemen rather than play Sestito. A guy like Sestito runs completely counterintuitive to Sullivan's brush it off and beat them with speed philosophy. The only reason he's up is because we had to call someone up and Sestito isn't important to WBS' playoff success.

The Letang suspension was bs. If it hadn't of been for the Orpik suspension (which was legitimate) and Letang's uncalled 4 minute high-sticking in the Rangers series this suspension wouldn't have happened. Ovi dishes out hits like that all the time (and worse).

Letang is more important to the team than Crosby or Malkin. The team rarely wins with him out of the lineup - even against mediocre opponents. If they find a way to rally and beat the Crapitals without him it's time for the Crapitals to just give up .

I figured as much, but then read Bombulie's blog and he thinks Sestito dresses over Sundqvist even if Fehr plays. That's assuming Rust is out too. With all the misdirection and gamesmanship who really knows. LGP

Why are they going to make it a blood bath? Most likely wont even be in the lineup.

You guys do know even if Sestito dresses its not because Sullivan is looking for him to go out and fight. Imagine the Caps, "oh these guys want to dress a fighter, we will show them" then the pens stick to their game and Sestito just runs his mouth off and laughs all game on the bench.

Even if Olesky is somehow in the lineup, if he's involved in any fisticuffs all the blood will be his. He's a willing combatant, but he's totally a punching bag.

Seems to be a theme with Penguins "enforcers".

Somerset is much further from Pittsburgh than youd think. I remember getting on the turnpike several times thinking oh ill just get gas at Somerset and then driving on empty for 30 effing miles. It did have one of the better Starbucks on the turnpike though

My gut says the call-ups were simply to keep the numbers good at practice.

Olesky skated with Letang...as a 4th d pairing.

Fehr and Rust are game-time decisions and neither skated today...but I would obviously expect Fehr before Rust tonight, with Sestito sitting.

Fehr resting doesn't really surprise me too much...and it let Sundqvist skate with Malkin and Kunitz.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me because it's driving me nuts. I have been vacillating back in forth between thinking the one game suspension for Letang was justified and thinking its ridiculous. The icing on the cake is that Boyle's hit last night on Hickey which led to the game winning goal seems like almost the exact same hit as the Letang hit. Both were borderline late as the player tried to finish his check. Both changed the direction of their body to initiate contact right after the puck left the puck carriers stick. Both were body to body with some head contact. Yet Boyle's hit does not even get a hearing.
- jrmjames67

I thought Boyle's hit was completely clean. It looked shoulder to shoulder to me. Hickey looked like he was trying to draw a penalty and it backfired. Now Hickey's hit on Drouin earlier seemed suspension worthy to me, but everything I have read is putting the blame on Drouin for having his head down. To me that doesn't excuse the hit, but I clearly seem to be in the minority so I must be missing something.
