and Bishop as well

Bishop can still play and will not be cheap when he becomes an UFA next year.

Check out the Rothschild and Rockefeller families, Lucas. You don't see them on the Forbes list, because they don't want to be listed on it.

They are worth trillions of dollars!

The not protecting Bishop for the expansion draft is what I was referring to.

And yes it will cost mega bucks to sign Bishop to a contract.

Been a long time since the pipes had this quality of poop in em

Fished all morning. Came home to wine, Osso Bucco in the oven and the GF is being banished to the bedroom while the boys watch the Marlies game.

Oh and great Blog Lucas. Maybe it's that there's only good news lately but you've been writing some good stuff lately

I think any sane Leaf fans, will be happy with a competitive team. I am not planning any parades.. Good luck to you guys too. I was surprised Jack did not get a nomination for ROTY. Sad really.

Don't worry, he's over it. According to Garf he's already at the metal shop grinding out another heavy workout. Jack want's his name on a Cup!

Look up the "federal reserve". Money is just made of paper. It could be worth nothing next week, if they turned it into a cashless society, which eventually
will happen. All part of the NWO or new world order, which is no joke. There
are videos you can find with George Bush Sr, Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton
talking about it.

Our benevolent rulers own their own banks. I could go on what you'd probably think is conspiracy theory, but I'd rather not get into a debate or long discussion about it.

Anyone here still doubt how high of value I put on Matthew Murray a week or two ago. Fleury is the one entering the market and if you get Stamkos/Vesey its something you should look into.

Inexperienced/weak as poop, no way that lineup makes any noise for a few seasons.

Hey boys, frequent lurker, rare poster.

As far as addressing the goalie situation, it seems to me that the expansion draft presents a rare opportunity that can be taken advantage of here. A UFA goalie, especially considering what's available, hardly represents a significant upgrade. In my mind, Lou and Crew should be looking to the Pitts (Flower/Murray), TB (Bishop/Vasi), and ANA's (Anderson/Gibson) of the league.

With the option to only protect one goalie, there will be several more impactful options available rather than UFA.

Just my two cents anyway.

- Farva

I agree this is the way to go, not only will there be more available it is entirely possible we get them at a discount since they may be willing to take less than have them exposed to expansion.

Cheers, thanks man.

Granted there are no guarantees, but all signs point to at least Las Vegas joining the ranks in the near future. This mgmt group doesn't strike me as the 'hope for the best' variety, so I'm sure there a plans A through Z ready to go.

Either way, I'm pretty stoked on the direction here. Good thing the league rigged the draft lotto for us (right Garth? )

This is the exact route I'm hoping Lou addresses. What I'm hoping for is he can pry one of the young ones away, this off season. Playoffs or not, the young guns I feel will progress their careers forward quicker if they have a competent goalie to help shut the door on a more consistent basis than say Reimer or Bernier.

cheers, always good to hear from a long-time lurker

Wouldn't the expansion draft only allow expansion teams to draft players made avaiable?

Teams with multiple goalies may trade one leading up to the expansion draft rather than lose one to the draft.

Stamkos and Vesey aren't sure things to sign with the Leafs. You guys got a great movement going on but don't get too ahead of yourselves. No doubt the light at the end of the tunnel is near, but as of right now your team hasn't proved anything.
- MurraysMotive

not entirely true...

the management team has done what no Leaf management team has managed to do in the past thirty years... tear it down and restock the cupboards more or less in 24 months.

and oh yeah... sign the absolute best coach available

given where they came from - particularly as the "cupboard" goes ... that's quite an accomplishment ...

all while getting rid of their worst contracts.

I really believe this all started with the Clarkson trade From that point on there have been a series of moves made by management that were incomprehensible before that. It's the kinda stuff that most of us thought only happened in video game management

Only a prospect with no risk and several teams wanted him - you must know more than those GM's. He was drafted 4th overall in 2009 in the KHL. He's a no risk signing. Incidentally - I see you like the Hurricanes - talk about a smelly team

ESPN says:

preseason 0-0-0 28 Still miles to go for GM Ron Francis' battered Hurricanes franchise. What will happen with Eric Staal, who is in a contract year? Or goalie Cam Ward? How good is Noah Hanifin, the blue-chip collegiate defender whom the Canes nabbed with the fifth overall pick in June? Too many questions and still too few wins on the horizon for the Hurricanes.
Spring Training 0-0-0 28 It's going to get worse before it gets better in Carolina while GM Ron Francis wades through tricky contract waters with netminder Cam Ward and captain Eric Staal.

You and the Hurricanes should get used to the Leafs beating you like a rented mule for the next couple of decades.
