Tuevo+Gustaffson for Pittsburgh's 1st and a D-Prospect??
- EnzoD

Before we get into this, perhaps we should discuss Gustaffson's playoff performance this year.

Lindback
Enroth
Reimer

Ward

YIKES!!

Do the Buds make a push to trade for their future tender at the upcoming draft or do they wait to see who is available/exposed at the expansion draft next summer?

I don't mind signing Enroth as a backup whatsoever.

Need to trade for a starter though, badly.

they can get by with Bernier next season and try and find a competent backup/1b
Then wait for something to happen with expansion.. goalies are tricky...Hard to project

I honestly think Reimer has the talent. I'd be weary giving him term though due to his injuries...

If they sign Stamkos, they go for a goalie this year n not take chance next year. Perhaps They go for Crawford Hawks in Cap hell

Hey boys, frequent lurker, rare poster.

As far as addressing the goalie situation, it seems to me that the expansion draft presents a rare opportunity that can be taken advantage of here. A UFA goalie, especially considering what's available, hardly represents a significant upgrade. In my mind, Lou and Crew should be looking to the Pitts (Flower/Murray), TB (Bishop/Vasi), and ANA's (Anderson/Gibson) of the league.

With the option to only protect one goalie, there will be several more impactful options available rather than UFA.

Just my two cents anyway.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I don't get the hard on people have for Vesey. How many college standouts really translate to NHL success. Not saying he won't, just surprised at the demand for him.

This is the exact route I'm hoping Lou addresses. What I'm hoping for is he can pry one of the young ones away, this off season. Playoffs or not, the young guns I feel will progress their careers forward quicker if they have a competent goalie to help shut the door on a more consistent basis than say Reimer or Bernier.

Solid player, smart player, and at a ripe age + free (no picks or players needed).

He has potential.

I think that will be determined at the NHL awards. If they anounce expansion, we move on teams with goalie tandems. If not we wait and see. Why over pay for UFA poopity goalies when with a a perfectly good poopity goalie now, lol. Also I think if teams know a goalie will be exposed the cost goes down. So what's another year?

Thanks, and a job always well done Lucas

I like the idea of looking to PIT, ANA and even WASH with Samsonov behind Holtby, but if it were my call, I'd zero in on TB and look at Vasilevsky/Bishop.

I do agree though that, while we haven't had a young group like this... well, ever... that it could hinder development if beach balls are finding the back of our net every other rush. A competent goalie breeds a confident defense, and so on.

But all in all, I didn't anticipate having these kind of hopeful discussions this early anyway. Things are looking good in Leaf land.

Couldn't agree more with the goalie thing. Except, there is no guarantee of expansion so if another opportunity presents itself, I hope Leafs jump on it. Either way, I trust Lou to make the right call.

Welcome to hands-down the best Leaf blog you'll find. Hope you enjoy your stay
