I think Seguin's injury is a new one, related to compensating for the cut. Definite question as to how effective he would be, would be nice to get a little more speed. The sky hasn't fallen yet, but it's going to be an uphill battle no matter.

I'm always the optimist, so if we can steal one tomorrow I'll still like us in 7.

If I were you I'd be more worried about goaltending. Seguin is a good player, but I don't see him doing much coming back from his injury.

I saw something on Twitter I think that made some sense

MAF to Dallas

Penguins seem to have a ton of goalies right now and they could definitely use the cap relief

If I were Ruff I would have left Lehtonen in in Game 2

See if he could fight through it

As we saw 3-1 can be made up but playing games with your goalies every time it seems they struggle could have lasting effects

I have little doubt that the Stars could make this a 7-game series, but if the Blues continue to forecheck like they did last night, this series could be over in a hurry. If the Stars get some decent goaltending and pick up a few defensemen in the offseason, they're going to be scary. Granted, they may have to part with some of that offense to get the defense as the free agent pool this year is relatively shallow.

I'm with you. If the Blues keep up that forecheck for 2 more games, this could easily be done in 5.

Problem is they are locked into their current goalies for 2 more years, one who has some sort of nmc/ntc and the other who has a contract that makes him largely unmovable.

I don't think it would be hard to convince one to go to Pitt for MAF

Whatever happened to Jack Campbell

Puts even more money tied up in goalies for Dallas though. Nill has made a lot of shrewd, good moves as GM. His goalie situation isn't one of them imho.

General Fanager only shows Kari, not Antti.

MAF does as well.

Doesn't matter. Dallas Goal situation is a mess. Two over paid backup at this point. 4.5 and 5.9 for next two years on both of them. Gonna have to be a cash dump with them getting little or no value.

Blues in total have 4.8 for both goalies this year and next.

I can see Backes asking for Kesler money

that is where I got the figure

Brouwer hopefully would take a discount as well

I would like them to sign the following deals and I would be happy

Backes 4 years AAV 4 Million
Brouwer 4 years AAV 2.5 Million

Probably wont happen but I can dream cant I

Got some young guys coming too Barbashev and some others

ya got a 2-1 lead in round 2 and ya griping about cap and contracts....geez...i get enough of that at the hawk blog...hell they got the best goalie over the last 4 years being traded

This is the truth.
Can't really hope for any improvement in these playoffs, but hard to think it can get worse.

If Nill wanted to do the 10.5mm tandem goalie in the pre-salary cap era, fine I guess though I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. You can't do that in the cap era.

I think the talks have just ramped up because certain things have come to light. At the beginning of this season, I was ready for Backes to be gone. His numbers were decent, but he showed no signs of leadership and didn't seem to be taking any ownership or responsibility in how the team was playing. Fast forward to now and Backes seems to have done a 180. He's not letting his emotions get the best of him, he's playing a clean and tough game, the rest of the team is looking to him to set the tone, he has taken responsibility for the mindset of the team, and he's got three game-winning goals so far. This guy I was ready to get rid of, or at least demote, now seems like a guy I'm scared to lose.

To compound that, Brouwer is a guy I'd kind of like to keep around too. The question is whether Bouwmeester or Shattenkirk is the obvious choice to get rid of. I think moving both puts the defense in too much of a tight spot, but I'd be fine with getting Shattenkirk off the books for a pick/prospect/young guy.

Alex or Colton please. Shatty likely won't resign with us and doesn't have enough term left to make it worthwhile.
We would have to add for Alex of course.

That first isn't worth Petro, who has arguably been our best player in these playoffs; and Colton is too much a piece of the team's future to part with. If Petro+ is going anywhere Draisaitl and Nurse are coming the other way. I think Shatty and our 1st is worth Edmonton's 1st, but I think we'd go for Tkachuk over Laine, simply because of the connection; Puljujärvi is enticing though.

I see Edmonton moving a few other pieces over the summer, which would likely clear up enough cap to entice Shatty to stay. Edmonton has a future with guys like McDavid at the helm, they could make it worthwhile.

I didn't offer them our first

I would gladly give Paajarvi back

Shatty Paajarvi and our second for their first

I'm saying it should be our first. I doubt one of ours' plus a second gets the 4th overall pick, but our first might.

Anybody wish we would have taken the rumored Shatty for Drouin trade... I for one wish we had! I wonder if we can still pull that off now that his value is probably quite a bit higher. Shatty has made some pretty bad defensive plays so far in the playoffs.

I am ready to see him gone by the draft.
