Most isles fans had no issue with the Boyle hit after seeing replays. They are more pissed at the poopty coach than anything. - Feds91Stammer
Yea, even a blind man could see the contact was to the shoulder & Hickey snapped his head back to try & draw a call. If Capuano still comes in today & b!tches to the press he really is dumber than wood, like most isles fans already say about him. |

Damn Islander fans think that was a penalty. It's hilarious that they came on here demanding we don't whine about non calls or bad calls and then cry like 2 year olds when one of there guys gets touched. Big steaming likes of douche they are. Every. Damn. One. - Artyukhin76
As an isles fan, I'm not going to complain about a non call in overtime, that happens. The game was lost when they couldn't defend a lead with a minute to go. Credit to the lightning for finding a way to tie it. |

Capuano should have used his timeout to rest the Nielsen or cizikas line for the final minute rather than putting jt and okposo out to defend a lead, neither of them are reliable in their own end. That's where we lost it. No issue with the non call on Hickey which doesn't look like head contact to me. Just my opinion. |

There was NO call to make. Hickey got knocked down, embellished it and cost his team the game. |

Not disputing that at all, in the regular season you might have seen an interference call - maybe, but I don't think it would have been a penalty even then. It certainly wasn't a call in the playoffs in overtime. Hickey shouldn't have laid on the ice. |

Neither did I. It was a bang bang play. - Artyukhin76
Man was that a brutal hit though. Wasn't far from where I sat, it looked even worse in person at full speed. As much as I would like to not have to see Drouin anymore, I'm glad he came back alive. |

Not sure that's an accurate statement. Both hits were clean and I think that's the general sentiment from most Isles fans. The coach is an idiot for trying to make it an issue. The coach is also an idiot for having defensively-irresponsible players on the ice in the last minute.
Was a really fun game to watch. Congrats on the gutty win and looking forward to seeing 4 more of these. |

The hit on Drouin looked like a head shot and I thought the hit on Hickey was legal but a bit late. Regardless, in the playoffs they aren't egregious enough to be real issues. |

The last three Islanders fans' posts have been all class. Unfortunately Hickey pulled a Kovalev and tried to draw a penalty while taking himself completely out of the play. He has definitely learned his lesson and I expect the Islanders to come out strong again in game 4.
I'm glad Drouin came back, but would not have thought less of him if he didn't. He was on the receiving end of a devastating (clean) check. This is a completely different player than the one who was moping around back in December, off ice and on ice.
Looking forward to Game 4! |

It's was. However, Drouin didn't have an issue with the hit. |

Meh. It was so quick and more of just two speeding bodies coming together. |

Even if he did take some of that hit in the jaw, it started as shoulder to chest, no arm came up, height difference was pretty large. It happens, wasn't an intentional high hit and shouldn't be called imo. |

Tampa Bay sports radio is beating your coach like a rented mule today. They played his comments from last nights game 20 times.... At least! |

wtf is with the 0.6 seconds interference ? when i played, if you took up to 3 strides to hit him after he lost the puck it was clean...if you took anymore than 3 after the puck was gone then it was interference. 0.6 seconds is not even enough time to take one stride? |

that pisses me off just watching it. a guy who was looking to take someones head off all night with big open ice hits is gonna snap his head back and fall to the ground and not get up just lay there pretending to be injured lol. Come on, I've seen kids in atom/peewee hockey break their arms and get up right away on their own to skate to the bench. a grown man is going to do this and lie there trying to sell a call good for him for losing his team the game , love it |

Well, apparently even the hockey news is siding with the Islanders coach. whatever, cry all you want, but it Still isn't going to change the fact that the refs made the right call on the ice.
At least Kerry Fraser has some sense:

The Hockey News is crazy with that article. Was there contact with the head, maybe there was but it goes so fast it's hard to see even with the replays. Was the initial contact the head, no it wasn't.
About the game last night, Koekkoek only played about 10 minutes but I thought he looked very good, I would like to see more Koekkoek and less Sustr, I mean Sustr played over 22 minutes in game 2. Yes they were dialed back in game 3 but equal time for those two I like. |
