...and they say that by having to hire a french speaking coach, Montreal limits themselves...

Really? Boudreau is part of "what's the best out there"?

- stinger67

There are a few good coaches out there but the limiting argument is actually pretty ridiculous. When is the last time a team outside of Montreal hired a first time french speaking coach? There are some pretty good ones who have gone on to achieve some decent success after leaving the habs. Would they have even gotten a look? I seriously doubt it.

Dan's not fat, he's a big fella, not fat though.

As for the hair though, I've seen more on a slab of bacon.

Well, we both know they'll never hired a coach that can't speak French (poor Cunny)

And I'm cool with that.

It comes with the territory of being a Habs fan.

Yup. What urks me is that there is an assumption that the French coach is somehow inferior to others. There is only 1 pipeline, at least for now, for capable francophone coaches to the NHL.

I felt bad for Cunneyworth but since leaving the habs, he hasn't landed another NHL job. Maybe he's just not that good of a coach.....

Whether he was good or bad his boss made sure to let everyone know that he had no job security.

I don't think it's an inferior thing. It's more like imposing made up rules which limits one from selecting from a better pool. Sure a québécois may be the best available, but how about the times it is not? It's more of a disservice to the paying fans to willingly get the third best because we have two TV networks that need sound clips without translations.

Burke had his weird GM rules that immediately hurt the team from potentially getting better. Sorry he's real good and wants to come here but is asking for 6 years and a ntc and I just don't believe in those. C'mon.
