I know I'm reaching back to page 1 but I had to work this morning.
I stand by it that Hags is better than Kreider. Kreider is a one trick pony in that he is supposed to be an offensive threat. He doesn't consistently do it. Defensively he is a handicap. Hagelin was never supposed to be a prolific goal scorer. He isn't. The difference is that he doesn't produce much less offense than Kreider, works hard every shift, plays in all 3 zones, kills penalties, etc.
If Kreider went to Pitt he still wouldn't score 30 bc he would coast around looking lost rather than being in the play with his stick down.
The notion that the Rangers could have or should have kept Hags at $4M or that his absence made the difference this year though are all simply false. His absence was one move of many that caused this team to have no clue who they are or how they should play though.
If Kreider scores 30 next year (and I hope he does) I'll be the first to say I was wrong. My wager is that he barely nets 20 again while getting top line minutes and proving worthless away from the puck. - Maskdman3
Brother, its you're opinion, don't have to agree with it, but if that's how your gonna roll, roll baby. I just see CK as a much more whole package, speed & size, better hands than Hags. Seems like he should be 30 by now, but Kreider is still only 25. I dread if we deal him like I said on Pg 1, we will feel like the Isles after they dealt Bertuzzi & paid for it for the next decade.

What are you talking about? We got Trevor Linden on the downside of his career

I noticed you on here saying this a lot when Hagelin was in Anaheim scoring 4 goals in 40 games
question, did you watch the 2nd round series, Rangers vs Washington last spring - jimbro83
Yes I did.
I get it that I'm the minority. If Kreider pulls it together and scores 30 we will all laugh at my expense which is all good with me bc I bleed blue. I just don't think it will happen.

Hypothetically what value would you want back in a potential Kreider deal?

Actually Strudwick was traded for Gino - Vukota
I stand corrected, Bertuzzi & McCabe went along w a draft pick that became Jarrko Ruutu for Vancouver. March 1998. Had to google that one, the old B2B brain usually is right on w old stuff. The Strudwick for Odjick deal was right about that same I remember.

Mick, I remembered this fight too, this was the same game that featured the infamous Cloutier/Salo melee. Gino would have been out there instead of Czercawski likely but he got tossed here for the not tied down jersey.

I was at this game with my Ranger buddies - Vukota
I went to too many games between us to remember at the Coliseum between 1996-2002 or so. Probably at least 12-15. Rangers had a great record there when I went.

I was sitting in McDonald's parking lot near Roosevelt Field Mall when I heard that trade - jimbro83
I was at the game the day we got Steve Larmer in November of 93 vs the Nucks, it was on my B DAY. He scored 2 goals & Nemchinov had a hat trick. Little did we know we would see Vancouver again later in that year.
Same thing in 1993 when Edmonton was at MSG & the Doug Weight for Tikkanen trade went down at like 5 pm & the 2 just switched locker rooms. - B2B76
That's great and believe it or not Strudwick & Gino fought that night too. I remember the intermission interview with strudwick after the fight. He said after the trade him and Gino crossed paths on the way to the other locker room and Gino said to him he always thought he would be traded for somebody he heard of, so Strudwick said I might as well introduce myself I was glad we traded for Odjick but remember being made Strudwick was the one traded for him. I can't believe I remember this but I can't remember to take out the garbage

No idea honestly. I hate the idea of eating up $4M in cap space for him which may very well be what the market dictates. If his bridge deal is less than that keep him. If not, take what you can get I suppose.

This was supposed to be his "breakout" yr, I'm frustrated w him too, but he did come on late after an atrocious 1st half. He IS going to put it all together eventually, I really feel it & I would not want to be the ones giving him away.
