yep, if Pittsburgh beats the 120 point Washington Caps in 5 games just like they beat the NYR, I think it puts the Ranger elimination in a different perspective
- jimbro83

Just like in 2013 when we got killed for bowing out in 5 to Boston in the 2nd RD. Then Pittsburgh gets swept by Boston in the ECF.

Ranger withdrawal has me a lot less interested in the playoffs now. Wake me in September.

the refs really have been letting that series get out of control. should start calling these things majors on the ice when they happen.

Capitals have been in every game they lost this series. Rangers were despicable from the second period, of Game 3, until they got eliminated.

If the Pens win, which I think they will, Pittsburgh is pretty much a lock to advance to the finals and likely will be the favorite the rest of the way.

No shame in losing to a good team, like Pittsburgh clearly is at the moment, but it's how you lose that makes you take notice of your own issues instead of your opponent's.

When majors are called, it then settles things down so the opposing team doesn't just lose a 5 min PP & a player who is injured on said hit. 2 years ago it happened early in Game 3 of the ECF when Prust took out Stepan w the late head shot & the call was missed on the ice. If that call is made its a 5 min PP for the Rangers & Prust is out of the game & the subsequent fight w Dorsett & Carcillo incident never happens.

exactly. 0 issue if a major is called on letang there. however, by that same standard the caps also have a few.

not that the pens would know what to do with a 5er right now

My favorite part of the Letang-Johansson incident is that Letang actually argued the call.

His next offense will get him 1 game and 1 period, 1 game and 2 periods after that, NHL loves the Pens resurgence

Did anyone see that soccer thing? Team wins championship that was less likely then the Miracle on Ice team. Kinda like the Rangers the winning cup unlikely haha

1. Miracle on Ice
2. Jets over the Colts in SB III
3. Buster Douglass defeats Tyson.

How that wasn't 5 is amazing. Wilson on Sheary shoulda been 5. Teflon deserved two games (fair and coincides with Orpik coming back) but even the one game is a shock I have to tell you

you know, just going back to the last blog and the sentiment on twitter because Haqelin scored again last night....

this theory that Hagelin is better than Kreider is absolute B.S.

Kreider has scored in way bigger spots than the 3rd game of a 2nd round series like Hags did last night

in games 5 and 6 last year vs Washington, in a span of 4 Ranger goals, Kreider had 3 of them

Kreider actually showed up vs Tampa in the conference finals last year, I actually dont even remember Hagelin playing.

Yes the Rangers miss Hagelin, but I shudder when I think about what Kreider could do if he was in that Penguin offense

- jimbro83

I know I'm reaching back to page 1 but I had to work this morning.

I stand by it that Hags is better than Kreider. Kreider is a one trick pony in that he is supposed to be an offensive threat. He doesn't consistently do it. Defensively he is a handicap. Hagelin was never supposed to be a prolific goal scorer. He isn't. The difference is that he doesn't produce much less offense than Kreider, works hard every shift, plays in all 3 zones, kills penalties, etc.

If Kreider went to Pitt he still wouldn't score 30 bc he would coast around looking lost rather than being in the play with his stick down.

The notion that the Rangers could have or should have kept Hags at $4M or that his absence made the difference this year though are all simply false. His absence was one move of many that caused this team to have no clue who they are or how they should play though.

If Kreider scores 30 next year (and I hope he does) I'll be the first to say I was wrong. My wager is that he barely nets 20 again while getting top line minutes and proving worthless away from the puck.

ESPN had something where it was less likely then both the Hockey game and Tyson-Douglas. Didn't mention jets game, but obviously it wasn't expected haha

They were 5000-1 to win the championship. It's their first title and they have been around for over 130 years

Just to put things into perspective, Buster Douglas was a 42-1 shot to beat Mike Tyson.

I've re-watched Tyson/Douglass, great, great fight. Seriously over 25 yrs later probably the last great Heavyweight fight. Tyson had never even been knocked down in his career coming into that fight. It was a total shock. HBO didn't even show it live, it was tape delayed from Tokyo the next day, that's how little people even cared about that going into it.

but no, one is fair. it shouldnt have anything to do with coinciding with orpik. thats not a variable measure for it.

but yeah. start giving these guys 5s in the game. thatll get them to stop.
