why do oilers fans take it so personal.. no one is taking away from how good mcdavid is.. just putting forth the argument that a player playing half a season roughly is not deserving of a major nhl award. - derm10
This is what you hope, but not the case
We don't take it personal. Or care who gets the award.
We know who the best rookie is. And so does everyone else. But that guy might not get the award cause he got hurt. Meh |

Huh?
That's not my definition. That's the NHL's
Troll about something else bro, this is one you're just serving up for us.
. Even for your usual easy standards, this one is a lob over the plate for us - Ihateallofu
yes that is the nhl's definition.... so how was mcdavid more proficient then panarin? |

exactly... no one is saying mcdavid isn't the "best rookie".... but as far a deserving the calder... he is not. |

He scored more ppg
He was more proficient in the an equal sample size.
Panarin wasn't more proficient, he just played more games
What else could I have meant ?
If the voters wanna award more games played, meh |

You neglected to mention that there is an age limit for rookies. Should that age limit be 23 and under instead of 25 and under? Probably.
Either way, who cares about this trophy. M.C. David will rap his way into numerous Art Ross and Hart Trophies in his career...maybe even as early as next year. |

Panarin's PPG was almost 1.00 as well. If he didn't go on that sick run in the last couple of weeks than McDavid would win. Don't forget the Ghost either, what he did as a rookie D is INSANE! |

but who would win in a skill competition..... that who they give the award to right? |

McDavid runs away with the Calder if he plays more than 60 games. No doubt McDavid was awesome in the games he played in, he just didn't play in enough of them.
Panarin should win. |

This is Panarin's hands down; most points as a rookie in the NHL since Malkin in 2006-07; it's really not even close unless you try to play "lawyer ball" with it question if Panarin is a rookie, which he is anyway.

Why? Panarin's PPG were just shy of 1 in 80 games and McD's were just north of 1 in 45 games. McD didn't even play long enough to hit the rookie wall so odds are his pace would have declined a at least a little bit had played closer to a full season. |

Because he's far and away the better player |

i would expect the 82 game season would have had some negative effect on mcdavid. |

77 in 80 vs. 48 in 45; that's not a huge difference and credit is due to the player that got through the season. The last 2 weeks or so of the season demolished that rationale as well as Panarin went on a tear while McD laid a goose egg (hitting the rookie wall perhaps?). |
|
|

You chodes should actually watch McDavid play... actually you Leaf turds should know just how good he is seeing as he not only torched your team for five points in one game but Leaf nation collectively lost their poop when the Leafs didn't win the lottery. |

The award isn't given to who is thought to be the best player; it is given to the player that had the best season, who is clearly Panarin. |

Panarin shouldn't win because
A) He has over 200 games in the KHL
B) He rode Kanes coat tails
C) 24 in Russia means he's really like 30 years old |
