Nope. the Oilers & Sabres don't make good partners as we're both wanting a #1 D man. The forward situation for both is already fine (with a few tweaks here and there as always). I don't see the Sabres trading their best D-man, and quite possibly the best D-man between the two teams. |

He may not be "worth" more, but he plays a more premium position. If he continues to develop the way the org has faith he will, being a solid 1/2 D-man is more important then being a great winger IMO (outside of P. Kane, possibly). Hall is a great player, and probably the better player (he is, as of now) but me, personally, I'll take Risto for the potential and position over Hall right now. |

No he really is. Young cornerstone dman who can put up fifty points are worth alot more then high scoring wingers. Risto play 25 mins a night put up good point totals on poor scoring team. I bet if you ask all the gms everyone would rather have risto over hall. Wingers are easy to find and give you good productions. |

Wow, Hall is useless. Any player other then McDavid is pretty much damaged goods. Those bums in Edmonton have done nothing for years. |

I just asked all the GM's and they said you're wrong. |

So your saying that you would take an injury prone 24 year old winger (17 games in '10, 21 in '11, 7 in 13, 28 in '14) over a young (21), developing into a top two pairing defenseman, just like that? They're both good players, and Hall is probably the better player, but with Risto playing a defense, and Hall playing a wing, I'd rather take Risto for: being younger, hasn't had injury concerns yet, playing a position that the learning curve takes longer, and already succeeding in it. I think if you had actually polled all the GM's, you might not find that ALL would take Hall over Risto. They would have to think about it at the very least. |

So, I 'd make a trade of Pysyk, Josh Gorges, Tyler Ennis (an Edmonton native) and Buffalo's 8th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft to Edmonton in exchange for the scoring top six winger it needs in Taylor Hall. Chiarelli would also have to trade his fourth overall pick to Buffalo. |

Risto looks like he'll be a good one but I'd go with one of the best wingers in the league. I'd think most gms would also. He's top 3 they don't grow on trees contrary to what some of your colleagues are saying on here. |

I don't disagree in Hall being great. The injury concerns are really what would give me pause. I said multiple times that Hall is the better player, but Risto looks the part of a top pairing D-man of the future for the Sabres. It's more of how I see the team being built I guess. |

It is a tough call, but I think Risto may be a #1 D, maybe a #2.
Top line D like that are tougher to find than scoring wingers no?

I think whatever the trade is between Edmonton and Buffalo just remember that Edmonton would also have to give them the 4th overall.

Is he going to be a top 3 D in the league? Maybe? You're not wrong but I'm going with an elite player over someone who may be elite some day. |
