Looks like Zaitsev has some offensive skills
I wonder if he can actually defend? Training camp will be very competitive and interesting.
Almost certainly Lou will sign or trade for a fairly big name on defence, he is used to having Scott Stevens and Scott Neidermayer on the back end

yah same.. I know Lou and Babcock loves to have 3 righties and 3 lefties.. So I think Zaitsev and Carrick are on the top 4 *right now* and whoever plays better will get on the 1st pairing.
That being said, they could package Bozak/Lupul + D(Corrado, etc) for an experienced right handed D (that has an overpriced contract for 2-3 years left).. we never know!
Hell... we're 6 months away from training camp.. -sigh- .. anything can happen. |

When Leafs fans swear that Lou always goes out and gets a good goalie.
He drafted Brodeur. And then he kept him for 20 years.
Why the frank are we giving Lou credit for always finding good goalies?
He found one franking goalie his entire time there (yeah, yeah, Schneider - what 'evs).

Bob McCown, way back when the Leafs were looking for a GM, talked about how the goaltending of Joseph and Belfour masked the real problems with the Leafs. Then he would go on about how Lamoriello was the best GM candidate available

What would be needed to add to Pitts' 1st rounder for Leafs to get the 4-7 pick range? A Tkachuk or Nylander would be an absolute cherry on top if they could pull it off.
