didn't he play on the wing in college too?

Plus, the almighty Ian White rotated between dman & winger

Jake's got a big body, quick, and his shot is pretty good too. He's smart in the O-zone, but horrible in his own end.. ingredients of a good winger for the Leafs

- MCharisma91

He's not very smart in the offensive zone either.

Serious question: did you watch a franking minute of a Leafs game this year?
- Atomic Wedgie

I seen a team that could have won 10 more games, thank you Bernier..
And I mean that in a nice way and a mean way...

Damnit, you have to give other people a chance to guess before you hog all the likely numbers.

gotcha

it just feels like Leaf fans are constantly trying to force things... At the moment the Leafs really dont know what they have on D... several mystery boxes

- senstroll

They need someone better than Hunwick on the top pairing once they are ready to compete, that's a given...but they have some decent prospects in the pipeline for sure.

All these proposals to trade JVR - I hope they don't trade him just for a top 10 pick ..and definitely not by adding Pitt's pick to do that.

If you trade JVR - its for something more concrete. An established young NHL goaltender and/or good young dman.

He's on a great contract and consistently produces in a league where it is becoming increasingly difficult to score. Don't undervalue him by trading him for a pick that could end up being the equivalent of a Jared Cowen. Get something of established value.

Since he's 24, he's required to sign at least a 1 year ELC. Chances are he signed on for only 1 year so he can shoot for a big raise for next season.

A good solid RH dman without having to give up assets. Good job by the Leafs brass.

The Flyers def should be pretty good in the future, been building for a couple drafts back there now.

I see a big problem with the Leafs D as it stands
everybody knows you need a big Stud D to have any success... 2 competent NHL D will never work

It's thank you Bernier indeed.

And thanks JVR for breaking your foot
And thanks Lou for trading Phaneuf, Polak , and leaving Nylander and Brown in the minors
And thanks Mike Babcock for giving Marincin 22 minutes a night
And thanks Kadri for not being able to hit the broad side of Serena William's butt

It's not easy being 30th

So, a new Leaf reporter took a wrong turn his first practice at the ACC and he ended up on the opposite side of the team benches.

He yelled over to Jake who was sitting on the bench. "Hey Jake...how do I get to the other side!"

Jake said "You're on the other side."

The top 2 will be there, the rest are not proven NHLers and the reason we will still suck until they add some size and snarl.

I see Zaitsev as playing on our top pairing with Rielly, and I know absolutely nothing about Zaitsev.

That's how franking thin our D corps is right now.

well now we have Carrick, Zaitsev and Corrado with right handed shots.. and Corrado, i think, will be expandable. Carrick looked solid on the Leafs, and playing incredible on the Marlies.

yeah let's just stick to the plan.

This weekend was exciting. It is nice to see a management group who appears to have a clue. It is great to see a young AHL team that is doing so well.

But We need look no further than Edmonton or Buffalo this past season to see that we aren't out of the weeds yet.

Matthews and Stamkos, if we sign him, certainly accelerates the rebuild, but it is still a rebuild and we just passed year 1.

What would be needed to add to Pitts' 1st rounder for Leafs to get the 4-7 pick range? A Tkachuk or Nylander would be an absolute cherry on top if they could pull it off.
