Now, if only we can get Hamonic from the Islanders for Marincin and a conditional, lottery protected 4th.

The quote to back up the Stamkos claim, came from a Leafs fan... it was a dumb comment from the Leafs in the first place. Why even bother to speculate on Stamkos for 8 million.

We all know by now that as soon as a blogger or fan posts something dumb, the entire fan base, team and city immediately owns that comment.

It is the HB way.

While I confess to being among those with little hope of winning the lottery and shot down notions of it happening...I have yet something else to confess.

I wasn't one of those who thought the tank and rebuild was dead because we hired Lou. I almost have to pinch myself these days. It's not even just the Matthews thing. It's the Marner thing. The depth thing. The Babcock thing. The Hunter thing. The Marlies thing. The staying the course and with the plan thing. The difference in effort despite the results thing. The overall positivity thing. I love it

He can. He shoots right... played triple A in the US east coast. When he stepped out to play high school hockey ... the coaches literally didn't know what to do with him. Played mostly as a forward.. but when injuries occurred they moved back to defense. At his size the coaches were frightened when he hit anyone.. and with the absolute "pussiness" in US youth hockey now... a good 2/3 of the kids coming up have never encountered real body contact. The approach of removing hitting was intended to make it less daunting for kids to play ... I think its actually chasing more of them away when all of a sudden they start getting hit at age 12 or 13.

Quite funny watching the defenseman taking the face-off on a 5-3 penalty kill... 'cause he's the only one who could win a draw I had never seen that one before.


He chose to stop playing because of school and wanting to have some semblance of a normal life.

Played with a few who will be drafted this year... I'm hedging my bets on the ones that picked who made the US development program.

I wonder sometimes how many guys have had the physical tools but not the desire to as you put it " live a normal life".

I played with a guy who was much better than the Howe brothers at age 15 who was far more interested in girls than hockey.

He is now a retired firefighter and doesn't even watch hockey at all
