Not getting stamkos is like saying no to stamkos just because you draft 1st overall.
- Fakepartofme

If you pick up Stamkos and Matthews, one of them is bound to be upset with where they play.

Doubtful. Even without stamkos Matthews isn't playing 1st line c next year. He's a rookie, they're not throwing him to the wolves out of the gate.

Not getting stamkos is like saying maybe we are concerned that he's not worth mega bucks and our rebuild will be ok without him.

Not getting Stamko's would be more of a kick in the balls then not getting Matthews.

IF that were to happen, the Leafs wouldnt be be the first or last team to have 2 solid centers.

We'll see. If his drop in production since his leg injury is anything but a random anomaly whoever signs him will eventually regret it. Signing him isn't without risk.

Signing any player comes with risk. Nothing new here.

Both risk and reward exist as possibilities. But you can't let fear rule your decision making when it comes to the elite. You hesitate for Clarkson and Komi, not Stamkos. Otherwise might as well grab your purse and follow golf as a sport or just be a Sens fan.

All recent cup winning teams tool these risks. From Hossa to Richards/Carter it's just what winning teams do. Target the best and most talented players. Pass on the Versteegs of hockey.

Why, do we have any superstar centers?
No.

Exactly, look at the move the Rangers did picking up Eric Staal. 20 games 6 points and nothing in the playoffs.. Take your chances.

Mornin fellas.

True. We all will. But if we're winning we won't care.

Worst case scenario buy him out next cba.

Not really. I can't speak for everyone but I think this season was a success and not being able to sign Stamkos won't hinder that. If they can sign him I think they should, but won't be upset if he goes elsewhere.

But what if he's a 9m 60 point player and matthews learns so much from him that he becomes a better player?

What if....

well then i'd have to hope having a 9M cap hit for an on the job coach is better than using that cap space elsewhere i guess

I think of Hossa whenever people say that the investment can hurt the team's cap. He's been integral in Chicago.
