He'l probably just get suspend for boarding anyways.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Polak/Komagod even Kadri play to hit hard and in doing so will always be the type of players susceptible to suspension playing along that fine line. Better than a softy out there. |

I love Kadri's game... He's the perfect rat.. he doesnt play dirty, but he makes you aware that hes out there.. he seems to do a better job of elevating his game than other.. Komagod and Polak cross the line sometimes |

Nylander has played C all season in the A and performed well at the position in the NHL. I think Nylander starts off C and moves to the wing later while Matthews gets acclimated to pro hockey in NA. Eventually they swap. - TheMussel
Babcock said he wanted Nylander on the wing to break him in to the NHL but couldn't because of injury. This is probably because of some of the other comments about "where he is on the ice without the puck" and D.
Don't get me wrong, love Nylander and he's going to be amazing but Matthews is the real deal, prototypical big #1C. He will start there and stay there. Nylander will have to beat out Stamkos for the other C spot IMO. (If we don't get Stamkos... Nylander and Matthews are 1 and 2 repsectively.)
When you really look at playing styles of a line of
#1 JVR, Stamkos, Nylander
for a top line would be scary.
#2 Lupul, Matthews, Marner
for a second line just as scary. Marner plays with Dvorak who is similar to Matthews style and Lupul is similar to Tchachuk...from what I've seen. Instant chemistry.
#3 Sosh/Hyman, Kadri, Komarov
We all saw this line go to work. (Hyman up to line #2 when Lupul breaks again.)
That is a legit top 9 and we have so many other prospects plus the 11 more this year. RIDICULOUS. |

Final comment on the draft lottery. Stamkos will have zero interest in the leafs now zero chance he signs there.

It's funny, you could make the argument that Stamkos would be more enticed to play for the Leafs considering the significant boost to their future competitiveness that was just handed to them.
But really, if the Leafs don't get Stamkos because they draft Matthews, it's not going to bum me out that bad. |

Agreed..
Roman Polak isn't a Leaf anymore... Id much rather Corrado/Valiev anyways.. Hopefully Dermott and Neilsen get some time with the Leafs this year. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Oh yeah, really live the look of the Neilsen kid. Big, can skate. Yes...swap out Polak for him.
How about:
Reilly, #2 New
Hunwick, Zaitsev
Gardiner, Neilsen

Yup, future of
Stamkos - Matthews - Marner
is not enticing at all - ILoveLamp
I think I might be the only Leaf fan who hopes we don't sign Stamkos.
Stamkos will get north of 9 million on a 7 yr deal from the Leafs or someone else. In a few years we will have to resign Nylander, Marner, Mathews etc to new deals which won't be cheap if they turn out like we hope they do.
I can see Nylander or Marner (not both) being moved to the wing. We don't need Matthews and Stamkos as our two top centers being paid the money they will command. Matthews as our number one centre with Kadri as our number two would work our fine for now.
Would rather see the Stamkos money being spent on other areas we need work on like D and a goalie.

I hope we sign Stamkos. I hope we stop making mock line ups that include Stamkos until we actually sign him. I don't mind not signing Stamkos though. Sign Tavares won't be far off.

Not getting Stamkos because you got Matthews is like not getting to go to the strip club because you are too busy having sex. |

agreed. Think it'll be Brown, one of Sosh/Hyman (whoever doesn't play along with Kadri/Komarov), OR Vesey (if we sign him) .
Bet Kapanen gets packaged for a young dman/goalie or starts with the Marlies. |

If he wants the biggest cap hit ever, they should be willing to walk away imo. This is where they need ShannaLouCock to sell the situation to him. If he absolutely must be the highest paid player in the game, I don't know. |
