Burrell is rumored to be quite the (brown) trout fisherman.
- MBFlyerfan

Again, this is 3rd party, but:

Utley was asked his favorite off-field moment of 2008 (not by a news station).

They're on a road trip, and he's in the room next to Burrell. And he hears Burrell just pounding this girl. And he screams at her, "Tell me your p---y is jealous." So she does, and he says, "That's right, 'cause Pat Burrell is in your a--."

They had a down year last year. They were 12-4 the year before.

I think Elliot was the choice to try and keep Romo healthy. Can run the ball more. Elliot can block and catch the ball.

I know the injury history for Romo. But if they keep him healthy they can contend for the division.

But if we had torn the team apart after 12/13, we'd possibly have Ekblad/McDavid/Eichel by that same rationale.

Lol. This is such a hindsight bias
- PhillySportsGuy

Everything working out is not hindsight bias. Trade itself was poop imo. But as I wrote in my post, chaos theory tilted in our favor. You don't call a trade good because of this...but you can call the unforeseen net result of a trade good. Your embarrassing you'reself with you're poor logic. Please stop.

Interesting we are talking about Pat Burrell and hindsight in the same thread. Amirite?

I thought at the TDL the Caps should have picked up a defenseman. Now their lack of depth there is going to hurt them.

Pat Burrell was not subject to hindsight...at least not when his shirt was off. Neither were the women of his harem.

If that happened then they would have not been able to make the move to trade Schenn and Lecavalier.

Everything has a ripple effect.

- J35Bacher

you're right, it does. They wouldve saved 4.6 million by not taking back umberger. ironically about the same amount that they retained on vinny/schenn

If the Hartnell for Umberger trade is the worst Hextall does I think I can live with it.

Damn we need the playoffs to end and free agency to come.

Maybe Caggulia can sign with the Flyers this week so we have another item to talk about.

you know what really excites me...when they play outdoor games and we get to listen to the players talk about how cool it is because they grew up playing hockey outdoors.

never. gets. old.

Thanks Bill. Quite often the fans forget the human side of the players, and it's easy to "dump" on them when they are down. The point where I get frustrated with a player is when their on ice play is not up to expectations, and when their off ice conduct is pointed out by the media. When players party after a loss, like it's 1999..sorry, or when they start talking about golf before the season is over, then I start to question their focus, or desire to play. If I did stuff like that trying to do my job, I would get fired. So, where does this excuse their behavior? Don't misunderstand me, I realize that you can't be perfect, but at least make it look like you want to be on the ice. Ghost had a season that players can learn from. If you make a mistake, do your best to correct it. I was impressed that he never quit on a play even if he looked like he was down, and out. Now, if he can keep up the intensity level of his play, then he will work out just fine.
Speaking of contracts, everyone knows I hate the long term deals, no matter what. They rarely seem to work out, and we end up losing picks, or making some lop sided deals to get out of them. In addition, the players frequently don't live up to expectations after having one, or two good seasons. I hated to see Umby leave, but in the numbers game that the game is today, something has to give. Players have a short life span, thus they are trying to get the most money out of their contract. However, teams can't fall into the trap of over paying for their players, or signing deals that are bad for the long term; "Oh, we will just deal with it later." Hexy has done some good deals, and has realized that the league is changing. It hasn't been painless, or cheap, but he has given the team a chance to be competitive over the next few years, and provides some hope for the fans. Thank you Umby for your service. I wanted you to be able to return to your previous form, however it maybe time to hang up the skates. Every player faces this challenge towards the end of their career. Retire a player, and let the fans, and team celebrate your achievements.

Not you but this bothers me. I love when people say "these guys have feelings too, they are human, fans should realize that" and yet do you think these players really think about the fans?

Yesterday I wrote this: "I'm sitting nude and cross legged on S2TP's metal folding chair in front of his 12 TVs. They are not turned on right now, but I am staring at them drinking 7 day expired milk I found in his fridge. I am so comfortable."

I may or may not have eaten your Twizzlers. After drinking the milk I blacked out for 12 hours and awoke in Pat Burrell's recycling bin.

I know he said it was still the plan but didn't see anything about papers filed.
