It'll defiantly be an interesting time for the NHL, especially for teams who got NMC on goalies. For example could the Penguins potentially be at risk of losing Murray if they don't move Fluery? (depending on the timing of the draft) - Soshnikov
There was some Twitter talk about low experience players being exempt as well but there weren't any details. Some guesses were 2nd year pros/ELCs were exempt |

Strome to me isn't that special. That's my opinion.
Either way you don't give up the chance to draft a potential franchise center unless it's for another franchise center or potential franchise defensmen. - Santo_44

The first 15 minutes were horrifying as an LCFC fan
And he totally should've, but it is what it is.
Missing Drinkwater for the next game, maybe 2, is going to suck. On a different note, I bought his England jersyey - RickJames77

gartyhs blog was legit except saying leafs are outr on stamkos. at least he gave our players some credit. but kadri will still be #1 center when the season starts. no need to go all oiler with our young guns just yet |

Lums Tanner? - Steven_Seagull
Thats a bit of a stretch. He's a hell of a player but I don't think some people give enough credit to how many exellent Dmen there are in the league. Karlsson, Subban, Doughty, Burns, Hedman, Lindholm, Keith, Byfuglien. Even at a step down you've got Weber, Klingberg, Ekblad, Suter, McDonaugh, Peitrangelo and others.
OEL is in there but top 5 is a tough go. |

I was in England in 2010 for the World Cup and France for that matter.
I loved the English, so much honestly. I've rooted for them other than the US as I root for Canada if the US gets knocked out of a tourney, and TML if doesn't negatively affect the Bruins.
My god am I an anomaly |

Sadly I don't think so. He's excellent getting the play to the right end of the rink, and can consistently score once playing full PP time... but he's not as good defensively. Sadly not close.
Rielly to me is a quality 1b guy. OEL is a bonafide, top 5 in the league stud. - lumlums
That might be a stretch..
Hes really good tho..
Frankly these trade proposals are idiotic.. Leafs will never trade the 1st pick.. |

I'd also take Josi above most of the people on those lists... especially at his contract - possibly the best non-elc contract in the league
Ekblad is also a beast - can't believe that I forgot to mention him. |

Karlsson and Subban always get me. Great offensive talents. And you can see where those kind of guys get you if they're your 1A. On the golf course. Not near the talent of Hedman or OEL imo. |

You guys have a good goalie. Get some respectable defense on the ice and Garret Sparks can get the job done.
Glad to see another Original Six team in resurrection mode. Good for the sport. |

The Toronto Maple Leafs will no longer require the services of super center Steven Stamkos.
The pending unrestriced free agent and Toronto native became expendable to the Maple Leafs when they won the NHL draft lottery on Saturday night.
That's the way that I see it. I'm certain that Brendan Shanahan, Lou Lamoriello, Mark Hunter, Kyle Dubas and the Toronto front office view the Stamkos matter the same way.
Garth
Whats he doing trying to start a rumor that we dont want him?
Like reverse psychology or some twisted mental thought he stayed up all night trying to put together.
Shan,Lou,MH,KD see it like he does?
Me nerves,he is one twisted (frank)stick |

Jose, Letang are up there too. There's a lot of optimism about Klefbom and Ristolainen. I forgot to mention Barrie, and all three guys on Calgary.
OEL is awesome and most of my reservations are probably due to the rest of the team being trash around him.
I'm almost glad people are on board with high skill defenceman nowadays and no longer you ever hear "Marc Staal and Dan Girardi for Norris" talk. |

I know Karlsson is the butt of many jokes regarding his defense, but having any guy on the ice who can be top 5 in league scoring is a plus. It's not his fault that his team is an absolute tire fire around him, with a cheap ass management team.
Put Karlsson on a team with some good players and playoffs isn't even an issue. |

Lindholm rocks. He's the best Dman on Anaheim and he's on his ELC. |
