Not possible.

You can't win a Stanley Cup with Kessel.

You know what's a novel concept around here?

Keeping our good players that are on good contracts (JVR for instance)

Leafs should not be buyers right now for anything other than a goalie

They aren't there yet. Get your goalie, move a guy like Bozak for whatever you can get for him. Move your guys like Laich, Michalek, Greening, etc for assets at the deadline and stay the course.

I don't see why they should deviate from the plan. But they can't even pretend to want to be competitive if they don't acquire a goalie, IMO.

Any word from Garf if the Sabres wanted this guy - but now that he signed with the Leafs - he comes from an inferior league as compared to the NCAA, AHL or Buffalo high school league so the Sabres weren't interested?

- The Looper

Nobody here gives a flyin (frank) what Graf or the other Sabers fans want.

Gonna have to hold onto some of them. Can't take all the oldie moldies and trade em at the deadline without taking someone back to mentor the children.

Ummm...JVR scored 30 once in his whole career!!
JVR is a solid 25/25 forward. WAY overrated by Leaf fans (and I am a huge Leaf fan). Very soft and terrible in his own zone.

You have no clue who Sergachev is.....
IMO, best d man available at the draft and definitely a top 10.

yeah, I make that trade without doubt.

I think you are still butt sore cause you think people are racists about Kadri! LOL

I think you need to understand that what Gostisbehere accomplished this year is truly exceptional (46 points in 64 games)

I can't help you guys if you think Zaitsev can be like Gostisbehere. What he did this year was truly exceptional & doesn't happen very often

Simple, trading from area of strength for area of weakness.
Leafs have a great pool of forwards right now (not including what we take away from 2016 draft) and we really need to get some top end D talent. Matthews is a given with the first so if we can move one of our assets (f) to pickup another piece in area of need (like Sergachev), it's a very smart play.

I think something is going to happen regardless, we have too many players up front right now.

and who says Zaitsev can't accomplish that? Or come close? Or even do better?

Ghost was on a team that are thin on the blueline ..You think he could do that being on a 3rd pairing on a team like LA, Chicago, Wsh? Kid got all the ice time and top PP mins, etc.

Zaitsev is on a Leafs team that's also the same .

He'll shine.

Just because he's on the Leafs, doesn't mean he's gonna be horrible. Need to get that out of your head .

Don't think anyone is saying it can't be accomplished, it's just unlikely.
Zaitsev doesn't have to do what Ghost did to be considered successful.

Very rarely does a dman step into the NHL and do what Ghost did - I doubt anyone is expecting Zaitsev to duplicate........

All I said was temper your expectations

Something like 30 points in 82 games is not a bad 1st season in the NHL and more realistic to expect than 46 pts over 64 games which is like a 60 point pace
