Like envelopes with cash money?

No massive corporation is risking it's 'good standing' with the NHL, the NHLPA and the CRA by trying to avoid the CAP hit. It's small potatoes in the big corporate picture.

I think the 'influence' might be going to all of their corporate sponsors and politely demanding that they retain S.S. for their advertising/sponsorship.

Stamkos will soon be pimping AirCanada, Canadian Tire, Subway, PizzaPizza, etc...

- The Law

There is nothing illegal happening. This isnt the mafia, they have lawyers smarten than any of us.

There gonna have a realllllllllllllly hard time finding sponsors for him.......

If you knew anything about tax you would know the USA has more tax planning options than Canada, higher tax rate thresholds and overall lower tax rates. Florida not having a state income tax is huge advantage. Dallas and Nashville could offer a similar advantage but are not likely based on their caps and budgets. Stamko will sign for $10+ million and not a just over Tampa's initial offer.

I don't, and I said as much. Thank you for clearing that up

Right now in TB, I believe, he is getting under 2mill.
- Cooshie

As Lucas points out, Forbes lists his endorsements at $800k with a good chunk of that coming from Canadian endorsements. Exchange rate likely hurts this value since endorsements are usually in local currency.

if redbull is paying dion 100k a year to wear his hat in interviews I think stammer wont have any problems making 4-5 mil a year with some bigger names...while still keeping sportchek, powerade, etc
- Lucas.Neilson

I doubt he makes that if he signs in toronto.
I could see maybe another million more.....just from local crap.

Its a dream to think being in toronto would garner him 2 - 3 million more in endorsements.
Plus businesses now have several maple leafs to choose between when it comes to endorsements......Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly.

Rogers owns like 50 radio stations.

"Hi Im Stammer you know what I do on saturdays before HNIC? I listen to POOD 1450AM to get all my updates on the world of poodles"

1000 bucks everytime they play it *50 radio stations over the course of a year

Not one of those players is an established, hometown superstar player in the NHL

Sure, Marner may end up fitting that criteria, but preference would go to Stammer if he was here, without question.

Matthews is a student of Maple Leafs skills development consultant, Daryl Belfry. Matthews was rumoured to be working with Belfry recently in Florida for two weeks after his Swiss season ended, in order to get him prepared for the upcoming World Championships.

I am really looking forward to watching these two teams battle it out in the future. Especially if the Sabres nab Alex Nylander.

That being said, JVR straight up to Calgary for the 6th pick if Nylander is available?

Thats kinda a weak take..

Do you think Leons, The Brick, Ikea, and Bed Bath and Beyond all would take Stamkos?

Befor Stamkos even played a game in Tampa there were billboards along the interstate that said "seen stankos"? Im pretty sure Matthews would be the main guy even if Stamkos came here.. Kadri would get the shawarma places.. Marner i could see on corny MADD commercials.. Nylander obviously IKEA.. theres lots of money to be had for all..

Not really.
When it comes to endorsing....a lot of companies want to get in on the ground floor, get an athlete before they get big.

Fair point, they can pay less, then reap more benefit when that player blows up.

Makes sense
