Quick story:
My 81 year old father was at a dinner party about a month ago.
There was a retired NHL executive at the party (you would recognize his name immediately).
The guy said that the Stamkos to Toronto deal was already done. All the paperwork was done. The only thing left to do was sign it - which they will do on July 1st.
And then the guy's wife chimed in that he wasn't supposed to say anything, so the retired NHL exec told everyone at the table that they were not supposed to repeat it.
So let that sink in for a moment, and then ask yourself this: do you really think that Stamkos and his agent are stoopid? That they would in any way agree to anything AND THEN tell a few select people, swearing them to secrecy?
Every single roomer, repeated by 100 different guys who have inside knowledge, is garbage.
See you on July 1st. - Atomic Wedgie
Oh I agree. I don't see Stamkos getting out of TB to be fully clear. |

Apparently Leafs will be too stacked at center, because we will now have Matthews and Nylander.
Effectively stating that Matthews > Eichel and Nylander > ROR
So either he's off his rocker or hates his team - WingmanWillie
Or he was trying to troll Leaf fans so hard he didn't realize what he was saying

I'm getting my mom a NASCAR jacket for Mothers' Day on Sunday.
She's a really big fan of that guy who drives really fast wearing that brightly coloured suit who chews tobacco.

Because Pegula would fly up to Toronto in his private jet to give Stamkos the papers? |

Dammit Wedginald, we've already established that it's actually a $3300 TV, after the dude at Best Buy did Ahjay's research for him... |

The biggest winner in the NHL draft lottery: The Buffalo Sabres because now the Leafs have no interest in Stamkos and he will sign a seven year deal to play in lovely Buffalo because apparently they don't have a young American stud future #1 C who would make Stamkos expendable like the Leafs now do.

It's the wonderful thing about hoping he comes to Toronto.
It's entirely contingent on whether or not he has a burning desire to be a Leaf.
Nothing else matters. They don't need to convince him to come here. They don't have to explain the Shanaplan to him.
If he is coming, he has already made up his mind.
If not, we move on to convincing ourselves Tavares has always wanted to be a Leaf. |

How postal can we expect Garth to get when the Leafs pick first overall in Buffalo of all places. - systemtool
It would be legendary to see Garth on a ledge if the Leafs sign Stamkos AND Vesey. |

Did you see that race the other day where he drove behind those other guys for like 175 laps, and then had that great pit stop and took the lead and won and then did donuts on the infield and stood on the podium?
It was epic.
I'll never forget that pit stop. Most guys take like 3.2 seconds to change tires, but he did it in like 2.7 seconds.
Unbelievable. |

Just cuz I can't see an arguably top 10 player in the world willingly taking his talents to the armpit of North America. Even if they were a good team. |
