I think the organization has made its decision on Schultz and he won't be back. - Oneonta Penguin
Yohe has reported they will try to keep him at a price they can afford. It really just depends on if other teams offer him a lot more $$$. He would be wise to take a 2.5 mil contract for 2 years with the Pens because he's a natural fit for this team. |

I always thought Backstrom was the best player on the Caps. I read an article earlier this year and he was voted by players as the most underrated in the league. Factor in the Cap hit, Id take him over Toews as a 1C.
OV isn't getting many chances which is great and their PP looks lost. - sammy87

Why is Kessel the triggerman? It seems almost every time Sullivan switched up Malking/Letang at the point, but kept Kessel on the left side with the puck on his stick.
The game could have been put away early on if they only could have figured it out

sid needs to be down low. way to often he was in the middle of the ice. don't have that much problem with kessel being a main man if sid is down low and malkin is shooting bombs |

We were talking about this last night. Sullivan must have seen something to have Kessel running the show. Maybe trying to give them a different look. Kessel is a great passer, but I think they need to get back to basics with Malkin bombing it on net through a screen. Sid down low getting rebounds. |

I think the organization has made its decision on Schultz and he won't be back. - Oneonta Penguin
I don't think so at all. Every time its been brought up Yohe has continued to say the org loves Schultz. We have eight capable NHL defensemen on the roster right now, meaning two of them have to sit. Lovejoy is the least skilled, but he's the most dependable. Schultz's reclamation has only begun. He played great for us down the stretch, but I wouldn't trust him in playoff hockey right now either. I'd want a full year under Gonchar and in our system before throwing him into the playoff fire. DP is the youngest out of the three and has been the worst Penguin out of the three up until this point.
There have been issues both in the Rangers series and Game 1 against the Caps that I thought could be helped solved by putting in Schultz, but I don't fault Sullivan for not going with an unproven commodity. Regardless, with Maatta banged up, we're gonna get to see Schultz. He rises to the occasion I can guarantee we will try very hard to resign him. |

Remember last year's winner was a goalie who's sucked on bad teams, got traded to the first decent team of his career, and got hot. This guy beat out Kris Letang who had come back from a (frank)ing stroke. I can 100% see Jagr winning it because he's still productive as a geezer over Dupuis who's struggled with blood clots. That award is a joke. |

Zuke should have this; coming back from that horrible headshot last playoffs. But since Dom Moore won it in '14, I'm not sure... |

Kessel is a good PP option. His onetimer isn't great but if he's a great facilitator and his wrister is lethal. That makes him a good half wall sergeant if not an elite one. But that's just one option, and one that I think they used too much as the expense of the Malkin right half wall last night. I don't like Geno on the point, which is where he was most of the night and I don't like Crosby on the right half wall because he's better down low and that takes away the area where Malkin should be. They need to stop (frank)ing around and get Geno some Right half wall looks. |

Because he scores points against the Sabres in November despite being 44 years old, has evaded the Russian mafia for two decades, and has overcome scabies, syphilis and gonorrhea to forge a legendary hockey career. |

One thing I noticed was that the Capitals didn't really challenge him. He had tons of time. That's likely because they were cheating towards Crosby and Malkin on the other side, and rightfully so. If he keeps getting that much time to make decisions and set people up, it's inevitable that he'll find sticks near the crease or in the slot, especially if Orpik is out. |

Yeah, I don't understand why folks are whining that he hasn't played when it looks very certain that he will be playing starting tomorrow night. He's got a huge opportunity to help the team and stake his claim. Just a matter of what he does with that chance. |

Pens can offer Schultz any deal correct? It's just if they offer him less than his QO and he denies them he becomes a free agent |

This is exactly the reason they got him, as a depth player for the playoffs. They weren't going to get caught with their pants around their ankles like they did last year with lack of depth on D.

it is nuts to think about what a turn around this team has went through. i mean we sucked at the beginning of the year and used every asset we had to get rentals and others that didnt pan out. things were not looking so bright.
fast forward to today....and weve got assets flowing outta everywhere. we have a chance to play for the cup. (in a lot of peoples eyes we are the clear cut favorite) well no matter how this season pans out.....i know i have found that interest that i thought i had lost. and it will be nice to see what this roster can do playing a full season under sully. |

I watch hockey for entertainment. Johnston's team was not only mediocre, it was boring. Sullivan has brought the enjoyment back for me. |
