i either want them from the CHL, NCAA, or Europe......taking flyers on kids in inferior leagues because of a good tournament seems risky. - sensarmy_11
Would you feel better knowing that he's committed to playing with the University of North Dakota next season? It's a very comparable situation to Kyle Turris in 2007, when he was drafted from the BCHL and played with the University of Wisconsin the next season. Given his U18 performance, Jost is also likely to be given every chance to make Canada's WJC roster.
I'm not sure if Jost would be my personal choice, but it's a real toss-up after the top-8. Fortunately, it looks like the draft runs at least 14-deep, so there should be some quality players still on the board at 12 - many of them playing centre or defence. |

Zibanejad stays in Ottawa all summer, he comes to camp in great shape and scores 30 goals playing at a hard 230 lbs. Turris also has a great season playing as the number 2. People finally realize that Ottawa is solid enough down the middle. |

Hoffman WILL get a 4 - 5 year deal from the Sens this summer. Book it!
Can't see PD going after any UFA's.
I've done some research and I like C/RW Michael McLeod with the 12th pick. - Erik6Karlsson5
I wonder if they trade the pick to get the talent they need for the new coach to help them become a playoff team.
12th would be a good starting point for a deal for Duchesne. |

I ran into Mika yesterday at the Wellington Diner in Westboro, can confirm that he's staying in Ottawa all summer. He was there with his family, they came to visit him, he's not going back to Sweden. I think he's absolutely gonna break out next season. |

Pageau scored 19 goals last year, he led the Sens with a +17 on the season.
Most impressive he had an empty net for 20 in the final game and passed off to Smith so he could score 25 for the first time in his career.
Ottawa with Zibanejad, Turris and Pageau down the middle are very strong. With Karrlsson they have the best Dman in the world. Let's not forget how young this team is and the fact they ranked in the top 5 for goal scoring. All they need to do is cut the goals against by 30 and they will have a very good year. |

if ottawa is relatively healthy for the season then they're a playoff team....especially with a full season of phaneuf on the 2nd pair.
that being said, they still lack a lot of depth.......if they have any injuries in the top 4 or top 6 they have almost nobody who can step in to fill those roles. also, i feel they need a serious upgrade on the bottom pairing D. for some reason people love him, but i don't feel that borowiecki is an NHL calibre d-man.....if he wasn't a 'local guy' i don't think there is a chance in hell he is with this team right now. |

The NHL marketing team are geniuses. They've made the draft lottery jus as exciting for the non-playoff teams fans as the stanley cup playoffs. |

haha.......don't get ahead of yourself.
you guys have 3 really good prospects up front (plus JVR and kadri are good), and then a poop ton of question marks.
you have rielly and i guess gardiner on D, and that's it
and you have no goalies
leafs are a LONG way from being a competitive team.......but definitely on the right track. |

I was just kidding. Tho I don't think they're as far off as everyone likes to suggest. They're depth for forward prospects is really good and they have 12 picks in this draft. Rielly is very good and Gardiner is a good top 4. Don't know much about this Russian dman they signed today but I won't get my hopes up. Next year they will more then likely be bottom 10 finish but who knows what will happen this summer. They need to make a move for a young dman. Bernier was very good to end the year and has been very good at times and very bad at times during his time with the Leafs. I still like bernier but he is defiently not a true number 1. Leafs have alot of prospects knocking on the door so it will be interesting to see what they're line up looks like to start the year especially upfront. |

People don't want to understand just how tough it is for players to make the final step to the NHL level. I thought, for example, RNH was going to be a superstar in his rookie season. He has magical hands and an incredible feel for the game. But, as we have seen, even though he dominated the WHL, he has not really been able to overcome the physical challenges of size and strength that he has faced.
The Leafs have drafted a nice array of talent. But, they are still behind the Oilers of a few years ago and we know how long the Oil have struggled. |

Prock said the same thing going on 5 years...
Toronto looks good upfront but its that backend that looks horrendous. If they can swing a deal for a top 2 dman (maybe Fowler) then I think they may make some noise but with current D core I think they will struggle to keep the puck out of there net. |

The Oilers issues have to do with a lot of gross incompetence throughout the organization. They failed to draft and develop outside the first round. They rushed top end prospects - Yakupov, RNH & others - greatly hurting their development. They overpaid the wrong free agents.
For the first time in decades, Toronto appears to have a competent management group that is very much on the right path. They have some young top end talent. They simply need to add more top end pieces and for their depth drafting to fill out a deep lineup. |

Not much to talk about for Sens draft stuff. There was almost no chance of moving that far up.
A couple things I've come across while while only sorta watching the playoffs.
Caggiula says he may take a month to decide where he signs. So, it may be a while before we know how that ends up.
The Sea Dogs were eliminated from the Q playoffs which may put an end to the hopes of Chabot winning playoff MVP. He was having a great playoffs. He finished with 21 points in 17 playoff games.
That means Gabriel Gagne is heading to the finals, and is within striking distance of playoff leaders in points.
Ahead of him is Francis Perron who has 24 points in 13 games. He's 2 points behind Beauvillier for the points lead with 3 fewer games played.
Both Wikstrand and Englund made the Hockeys future list of top 10 SHL Dmen. Not sure Wikstrand will ever come over to NA or will have a future at all now, but Englund could be a guy to really help out the back end in Bingo next year, and could be an injury fill in.
PS - No to Hartley. Sens need a guy who can structure good Dzone coverage. Hartley can't do that.
