it's not possible for me to know any less about the players eligible for the NHL draft. but personally, what i think the organization should do is draft nothing but skilled/offence first forwards over 6 feet with every pick for the next 2 years. - DoubleDown

ugly would be an improvement.
the history gets a bit better after that... Hamilton in 2011, Trouba in 2012... but too early to judge the 2013-15 picks. some of the D picks have worked out but so far Couture is the only forward who established himself as a top 6. - DoubleDown
Gonna need a D soon. Markov is getting older. Petry is barely a 3rd in the NHL and Juulsen had a very very disapointing season. |

You only say that because the Habs have been able to consistently find defensemen and 2nd/3rd/4th liners in any given round...and the only thing we lack are bonafide 1st liners who can score... |

i still think they're in decent shape there. you've got an anchor for the top pair in Subban and one for the second pair in Petry. i know you don't like him but i think he's an ideal guy for that spot. it would be nice for Beaulieu to take an offensive leap because i think he's solid enough to be a top 4.
of course all of this assumes they don't dump PK in the summer, which i think is a 50-50 shot. |

Yeah, Bergevin's motto will change from "you can never have too many defensemen" to "you can never have too many goalies"...
HOW ABOUT 'YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY GUYS WHO CAN PUT THE (frank)ING PUCK IN THE NET' ??? |

whoa.. what good defencemen or second liners have they drafted since 2007... at all? let alone outside the first round. i count Beaulieu and Gallagher. |

Dream scenario for me would be if Bergevin could trade his pick with TOs or Winnipegs to get Gauthier and Laberge.
Think we all know he's going to stay there and draft Juolevi |

look at the drafts going back to like 2006. terrible.
but Senyshyn, from last year, will be a good player. hopefully Zboril and DeBrusk too. |

A perfect occasion for the key phrases :
You build a team with draft.
You draft the best player available.
You build a team for the back.
Anybody wants to bet we'll get all these phrases at the post draft interview? |

yes and that was my point... even including the first round picks, there's been very little help that's come through the organization organically. |

that's my opinion. i absolutely think a trade will be explored before his clause kicks in... and honestly, nothing wrong with gauging the market. but i don't see any scenario in which we don't lose a trade involving PK. badly. |
