Comes in as an underdog and proves all the critics wrong.
- weirdoh

Guy was the consensus #2 pick and a lock to at least be a Calder finalist, but somehow had to prove himself against all odds

McDavid is lessons and bounds better than the other two. No question.
- mr.peanut

He's a generational talent in the truest sense.

A pretty decent quote I heard last year is that Eichel could be the best player to come out of the draft since Crosby, whereas McDavid could be the best player since Lemieux.

Habs looking at either Chychrun or Sergachyov maybe even Nylander?

Any one of those 3 could be a pretty high impact player.

Yeah pretty much exactly that.

Geeze I forget sometimes you guys also had some embarrassing seasons with piss poor management.

He is gonna be a stud for sure. Better than McDavid?
- AGalchenyuk27

I think he is a tier below... think Tavares.

Still a home run.

Unfortunately despite the numbers he put up in a shorter season, we didn't see how dominant McDavid could be.

The Habs had an embarassing season, but they are one year removed from the ECF. There have been darker days than these.

I don't pay much attention to it but re. Chychrun, I hope they go for Juolevi instead

he is going to be a great player.

He even metaphorically sprayed all over McDavid's house!

Absolutely, I just don't think Juolevi will be there?

With chychrun he started high, but with more attention the more his flaws were noticed.

Would have at least been top 5 in scoring.

2 years removed, but ya.

The unfortunate thing is they are caught in this middle ground vortex where they never have a great team or a great prospect pool. I don't know about other people, but the middle ground is the worst as a fan in my opinion, never anything to get excited about.

Habs have been up and down for a few years going back to dumping Koivu Kovalev and getting Galchenyuk etc...but it does underlie how serious an injury to a key player can affect chances

Only Jew Living LOL

He should be gone by the time the Habs draft. I Would be pumped if Habs won one of the lotteries but 9th keeps me interested because it could be anybody. And they are all good players. Somebody from 4-12 has the potential to be the 2nd best player in the draft. The problem is timmons won't find him. Trevor can't smell a fart with his nose in a assholde.

My money is on Yost or keller

I think a healthy Habs team could have done better against the TB than Detroit did but healthy is the key and not just Price

Yost sounds like the next Kyle Turris. I hope they stay far away.

Admittedly Turris turned out better than he looked for a while, but I think a lot of others that go in the same range will be better than Yost, significantly so

My only concern about McDavid is that he plays at such high speed, I wonder if he can stay healthy.

If he McDavid stays healthy, I don't think it is close. A couple years from now, he might be the best player we have ever seen.

Health issue will be a big question. Matthews is more durable.

Not just a key player.

The League MVP and the best goaltender on the planet.

I know the Habs were worthy of some serious criticism, but I have a hard time imagining any injury as significant as that.
