“No disrespect to Eichel, but he couldn’t carry Matthews’ skates to the rink. His impact in the NHL is going to be special.”

he was wrong...should have paid attention to oil prices

$5x5yrs is too much at this point. If he's smart he takes 1 year at 5-6 from some team looking to get over the hump before cap troubles kick in. Hopefully he regains some form...

It will be interesting to see how the TO market reacts to the kid. Burn him at the stake one minute and worship him the next

I don't think it will even be close, McDavid is generational.

I dunno, I feel like maybe it won't be that bad.

A lot of the crap the fans in Toronto gave players had to do with frustration about the team for a long time. It seems that, in the near term, the Leafs fans are willing to buy into the rebuild. I think the good mood in Toronto should help isolate the kid.

How was Sundin treated other than refusing to be traded? I feel like it was always positive.

The issue Matthews may hit is that now there will be dippoops who expect the cup next year.

My only concern about McDavid is that he plays at such high speed, I wonder if he can stay healthy.

If he McDavid stays healthy, I don't think it is close. A couple years from now, he might be the best player we have ever seen.

I don't blame him for taking a shot at it. I could see Arizona taking a crack at him if Doan splits ro fill the veteran winger quotient

Eichel came from the toughest league outside of the NHL and dominated the NHL in his first season.

Being top dog in the desert could get his totals back up and get him a bigger payday but I seriously doubt he goes there just to be deadline fodder.

It was (frank)ing disgusting.

Sundin was never quite good enough, despite putting up EASILY hall of fame numbers and having nothing surrounding him for most of his career.

A lot of the idiots in the Leafs fan base somehow managed to blame Sundin.

It is embarassing. It is very possible that he was the best player the Leafs ever had.

BL, by all accounts McDavid started the season pretty slowly.

Yet, he still finished top 3 in points per game......as a rookie. The kid is special.

Ah yes, the Koivu treatment. We gave you no one to play with and you never brought home a cup. You are poope.

I think Taylor Hall had to tone it down also, and he seems to have.

The scary thing is McDavid lost an edge and broke a collarbone. What if that is a knee next time.

Yah... and the idiots like Orpik and Tom Wilson running around head-hunting. At least Kassian is on the Oilers.
