With the 10th pick lota of people are sayimg Mikhail Sergachyov would be a steal for us. Granted if he is drafted he would push for a spot but most likely go back to junior. But push for a spot the following year. Then our d for that year could look like:

Ej-bigras
Barrie-zads
Beau-sergachof

Granted that could be next year as well

To go all cray cray on rebuilding the D overnight. If Chychrun or Juolevi are there at 10 instead. Do the Avs go crazy and trade Bigras for Hamonic (rumoured to be interest on the Islanders part) and go with an overnight new D of:

Barrie - EJ
Zads - Hamonic
Chychrun - Beauchemin

Never going to happen but I dont think I would hate those sort of moves

Yeah, hopefully this will inspire some significant changes to some systems if they weren't already going to be changed.

I could possibly see an assistant coach going to run San Antonio like Tim army, then we have a coaching hole they can fill with some experience hopefully.

I don't expect too many major roster moves besides resigning guys like (picks and mack) then see what happens with barrie. Would like then to read sign matthias, and take a run at Backes. Possibly a defense if possible, depending on how the draft goes. Though I expect a defense to be drafted in the first unless a the top 3 d guys are gone.

Army has done some great work with some of the younger players on the team in the past, that could be an interesting idea for all parties involved. Matthias should be resigned for 100%, esp with players like Everberg heading back overseas. Other that very very cheap depth players and maybe Rads on a decent deal, I'd avoid UFA for the most part and just keep building from within.

Avs are in a spot to draft best available but I would go a forward with the 1st pick, possibly even a center. Tough to say, not as knowledgeable on this years draft.

Yeah, I will agree with best player available. McLeod would be my choice. Then let him play juniors and team Canada in the fall.

I do agree withat the avs not doing to much on the Ufa side. I see picks mack getting deals, and grigs too. Barrie I'm hearing and thinking he will go to arbitration, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I believe this core of Duchene, mack, Landy have another solid year together. Adding in rant, bigras and zads, hopefully seeing compher Compete for the third line center spot. Lines could be:

Grigs-dutchy-×
Rant-mack-Landy
Comeau-soderberg-iggy
Cody-Mitchel-x

Or

Rant-mack-dutchy
Landy-soderberg-grigs (I kinda like the idea of grigs as a defensive center, like Stastny)

Dont see Compher at the 3rd line C role so quickly, 4C is where he could land,

Landy MacK Rantanen
Grigo Dutch (Radulov/UFA)
Matthias Soderebrg Iggy
McLeod Compher Comeau

Right now thats top 9, (Granted if they resign Matthias) Dont think Compher leap frogs Comeau up the depth chart so quickly.

But the is all great as long as they can find a way to get rid of Mitchell (or Iggy)

Iginla isn't going anywhere. This is a player who gets to decide what he wants to do with the end of his career. If a trade happens it will be because he initiated it or management asks him what he would like to do with his career. You can't disrespect a player with his credentials and trade him because it's part of the business....

He's 15 goals shy of passing Joe Sakic on the all-time goal scorers list and 30 away from Dave Andreychuk. Iginla is jersey number retirement material and a lock for the hall of fame. You treat players like this with the utmost professionalism and respect.

If you are a true hockey fan then have some respect and not run around mouthing off about one of the all-time greats being moved like some bum.

Good Rant...not great, but good.

No one is saying move Iggy like some bum, but its business. If the team has an option to move him, they should since his cap hit will hurt the team next year.

Hes not an avalanche legend, they had no issues shipping Tanguay off for a rental. I would assume they would do the same for Iggy if he wanted to go for a cup somewhere else. No issues with him on this team but he is replaceable as he is not a key cog to the roster, and chances would improve the team with him gone since they run the PP through him which isn't ideal.

There has to be balance between the "business/cap era" and doing the right thing. Organizations attract players and prosper when they take care of their players. The Avs can't afford to have a reputation for mishandling players. Detroit is not the "ideal" place to raise a family and Montreal has massive taxes, but players want to go there for the organization's treatment of players and history. Hopefully the Avs treat players well. There are some folks in that office who have ego's and a reputation of not doing things the right way..... Those are the pieces that need to hit the rode.

They did the the year before with Hejda, and look at where that left them. They had a deal to trade him, asked if he wanted to be traded, he said no and they nixed the deal.

But they had another deal in place that was counting on him to open up a roster spot. Didn't happen so they weren't able to finalize the deal with Ottawa.

You are really over thinking this whole thing, its business, if a player (in this case Iggy) is traded its whats best for the team. He has earned his right for a NTC, so its up to him. They won't ask him to waive it but if he wants to go somewhere else, he will.

Calm down dude

Agreed.

If rads doesn't work out, who would be a suitable player we could go after for that top 6 role? Or would be shuffle what we have and beef up out bottom 6 with a signing?

I really want Rads so I will be so dissapointed if he doesnt sign with the Avs, but I would not be shocked to hear the Avs are interested in okposo. Hes a winger that Roy would definitely be interested in, and plus he is good friends with EJ so there is a connection there.

I dont think he will be worth the money he is asking..around 6m...but if he was around 5m, I would sign that all day for him as a Plan B for Rads

Everyone is so keen to trade Iggy (hey, me too) but the $6M is where. The desire seems to be to trade him to shed the contract, and flip that money into a D, or spread across a couple of F's. There are almost no contending teams that can afford the salary and the Avs are not going to take back a contract at the same amount for a longer term.

Teams that cannot afford to take Iggy:
Pit, Phi, NYR, WSH, LA, Chi, Min, LA, STL, Det, TB, Van, SJ, MTL, BOS, Dal, FLA (just dont see them with Iggy and Jagr),

Teams out of likely contention next year:
Win, AZ, Carolina, Car, NJ, CLB, EDM, CAL (I cannot imagine him going there)

Possibilities:
Buf (If they do not get Stamkos) would they deal with the Avs 2 years in a row? - Iggy for a 3rd & 5th
NSH - Could be for a pick - Has the cap space
ANA - Iggy + High pick for a RFA D man? - Otherwise this one is DOA because the Ducks will have a high cap number with their RFAs
OTT - Iggy - Wiercoich (except Phaneuf is there and that is not going to work)
NYI - Iggy/Bigras - Hamonic/3rd

So four teams...thats about it. I somehow doubt he will be traded...

First time posting on here! I think we got a steal out of JC Beaudin and AJ Greer, both play for the Rouyn huskies which is 1 hour away from where I live. Got to see about 7 or 8 huskies game this year! Beaudin's playmaking is really good, has a decent shot but tends pass over shooting. Beaudin is out of the lineup with a shoulder injury which hopefully isn't too serious. As for Greer he's got a really good powerful shot and is good at picking corners not fully covered by the goalies he also plays the power forward style of game that reminds me of Chris Stewart although you can never fully compare two players. As for Nantel, he has a lower ceiling, but I can see him in a shutdown role on the 4th or maybe 3rd line with some offence. Nantel has decent speed and is really good at controlling the puck along the boards or in thighs spaces, he has played basically on the 3rd line all year for the stacked huskies team and mostly as a shutdown/PK duties. Nantel basically only got PP time when players were injured. I also got to see Nicolas Meloche once this year when his team visited the huskies. I didn't find that he stood out all that much but didn't play bad either. Considering this I think our drafting has vastly improved since we got ride of Pracey as the head of our scouting staff! On a side note Beaudin Greer and Nantel have a chance to win the presidents cup tonight against the Shawinigan Cataractes as they are up 3-0 in the final series of the QMJHL and could also stamp their ticket for the memorial cup in Red Deer.

That's awesome man! Thanks for an update! I will be at red deer this year, got my tickets looking forward to seeing them, I'm a pretty Brandon wheat kings fan they're 2 wins away, hoping the avs take a look at some of the Kings players and sign one or two to deals that would be sweet! Or even steal away the coach/gm to be an assistant gm or coach that would be huge!! He knows the whl and how to pick solid players

That's awesome man I wish I could be there too! It's gonna be good hockey! I don't know much about the WHL or the OHL but the huskies have one hell of a deep team! They have 8 nhl prospects on their roster! How do you think the teams from the WHL and OHL are gonna do? I wish the Avs would consider huskies defensemen Jacob Neveu who is eligible for the draft in June. He is projected to go in rounds 3-7 as is an amazing shutdown defensemen with good skating. I'm 3 years or so he could be good to be paired with a Barrie type of player.

Ohl I don't know to much about just maybe a few top prospects. Whl Brandon has been the team to beat. They have kyle clauge who is project 1st round this year. Nolan Patrick who is top 3 pick for next year. Plus Ivan p 8th overall d for flyers last year. It's a solid team. Second year in a row in the Whl finals. They're up 3 - 0 now in the final. A Brandon huskies final would be a solid game.
