James, why do you suppose the lottery is held behind closed doors and not in the open so fans cam see the lottery.

There would be no talk about the lottery being fixed if it was open to see. I just can't understand, why the secrecy?

This is a good thing since we know Edmonton is going to win, when they do, Daly or whoever grabs the ball can just throw it back in and draw again until someone else wins

I would guess the actual drawing might take a while and be boring? There is a zero percent chance its rigged and anyone suggesting otherwise is being ridiculous.

If it's fixed so Toronto can win it's a reasonable, logical, necessity to further the interests of the league.

If it's fixed so any other team can win, it's an abomination that defames the entire sport.

I definitely macho man randy savage elbow dropped my coffee table from the top of my couch on that game 7 loss to Boston. But it was all because of false hope. We were supposed to be swept 4 games to 0. Boston used to dominate us back then.

The Maple Leafs never traded Seguin and Hamilton however. Honestly - if Toskala weren't such garbage that 2nd overall pick could've easily been a 7th or 8th if Toskala was even close to an average goalie. And if the Oilers were smart enough to pick Seguin ahead of Hall...

The trade that broke the camels back was JF jr trading Rask for Raycroft in a desperate attempt to keep his job. It's a classic principal-agency priority disconnect. The kind they teach you in 1st year business. The team/corporation/shareholders benefit from a long-term outlook but management needs to produce results in the short-term to keep their job. This is why many successful companies have a CEO who is also a major shareholder.

And this is why the Leafs current model will work. Shanahan isn't afraid to lose his job. Lou isn't afraid to lose his job. Babcock isn't afraid to lose his job. They can look long-term and we are looking GREAT!

If the Leafs don't win the first lottery we want Edmonton to win it.

1) Gives us more improved odds at No. 2 and No. 3.

2) Keeps Matthews out of the Eastern Conference. F U Sens and Habs! F U all!

Leafs don't win anything, you're better off just not watching the whole thing. Keeps the blood pressure down where it's suppose to be.

Ottawa winning would certainly be just fine with most I'd suggest.

Oh I understand what 80% means. Most of us Leafs fans aren't even counting the 52.5% chance we have at top three. We've accepted that our 47.5% chance at fourth will equal Tkachuk. Anything better is a bonus.

For a bit, then who cares? It's not the massive thing people are making it out to be.

It will eventually be who cares if he ends up being just another NHL player, but if he became a bona fide star from a place that nobody dared think possible, that is something. There will be more kids wanting to learn the game in AZ. When I was growing up, that wasn't really possible, and there were no kids leagues to speak of. Maybe a men's league or two with transplants from cold climates, and there was the Roadrunners minor league franchise that had a couple of stints, but otherwise, very few kids if any were joining hockey leagues. Before the Yotes showed up, for a number of years there were only two skating rinks in the entire Valley. This is a real chance for the game to grow there if the kid becomes a star.

I think if Strome had a much better play-off, the Leafs might consider #1 for Strome and Arizona's #7 overall. BUT Strome is still a "Maybe" to be an impact NHLer next Fall, so I don't think Lou or Hunter bite on that.

Don't do that (if you are Toronto).

Great news Tanner, Leafs win! Tanking for #1 Go leafs! Now you should ask EK if you can blog for them. Just say, EK I know nothing about the Yotes and I don't watch them play, so can I blog for Oilers or Leafs. I'm sure he would help you out. Tomorrow you should write about how the leafs are a lock to make the playoffs!
