Oilers are 4th so at least they didn't get one of the big 3

At 6th, they can pick the top D in the draft. I hope they do that. Juolevi or Chychrun sounds good to me.

I think it becomes trade bait. Maybe target a guy like Dal Colle?

I expect EDM to pick the top D. We don't need a D, we need a winger for the top 6. I really, really, really hope that Dubois is still on the board when we pick.

I think we need another top 4 D and sure seems like D are out of favour on draft day. If Calgary ends up with a surplus of top 4, they can easily trade one for a scoring winger. I just think there's better value where the Flames are picking if the top Dman is still on the board.

Another possibility is to see what Columbus might want to flip draft positions.

What about Nylander or Tkachuk

You're absolutely right, I hope Rasmus is that guy! If Edmonton picks a d with their pick I think the Flames have to take 1 of Tachuck or Dubois.
Edmonton might move that pick for a top D who knows. Nylander got extreme skill just a little light. Be interesting none the least, draft day!
Come on Stars, yeah Russell has to play 50% of the games.

Assuming that the Oilers keep their pick and haven't traded for a true top defence an by then, how do they not draft whoever they consider to be the top defenceman prospect (Olievi, Chychrun)? Would they really add another forward to that team and continue to leave a massive hole on the back end?

If the Oilers do what is smart then it is still all good for the Flames. They pick whichever of Tkachuk or Dubois falls and they still get a top 6 forward with some physical size. I personally lean towards Dubois but would have no problem with Tkachuk.

Of course that all depends on the Oilers doing the smart thing which I'm not overly confident will ever happen.

I guess it depends if they plan on trading one or more of Hall, Eberle, RNH, and Yak. Trading those guys leaves holes in their top 6 that could be filled nicely within a year or two by Tkachuk or Dubois.

There's whispers that some teams are ranking Brown(6'6 220+ ) in the top 5 (TSNs mock draft had him going to Vancouver), but there's a chance that BB and BT have him ranked ahead of Nylander and the D prospects. I'm personally hoping for Tkachuk, I think he'd fit perfectly with our team.

I like Boudreau as a coach but I think it's extremely unlikely that they fire Hartley to bring him in right now. The timing sucks but I think Hartley will be given the first half of this season to prove himself, he'll be fired if we are out of the playoff picture at christmas.
