Only question that remains is when the hell will this clown get traded or sent to AHL?

I mean while its a possibility i don't think Toronto can throw away nearly 50 years of sucking after one little good patch right?

For fun, if Sabres win lottery and Arizona gets #2, do we contemplate trading down a spot and what would Yotes pay? Realize probability is next to nil...

#2 and OEL for #1 and Girgensons.

No way that would even be close to happening. Honestly the Coyotes probably wouldn't trade OEL for the #1 straight up, let alone a bonafide number 1 defenseman on a great contract, and a star winger.

I love how the posters here say we don't need yandle

he has really good wheels for a d man
great shot
points up points
under 30

better than all of our current d men for next season's opening night roster as of now

- homiedclown

Not a top pair defenseman
Cost a ton per year
Also be a long term deal
Not all that great in his own end
McCabe seemed more than capable on the 2nd pair, and you'd assume would only get better

Is he horrible?
Of course not
Do we NEED him?
I don't think so
McCabe is much cheaper & looks good

I'd rather spend that $$$ elsewhere...
Like for an actual partner for Risto

If i remember correctly an article i read a little while back said the asking price at OEL started at a top 3 #1 this year and next years #1...and i think they wanted more on top of that

basically he is going nowhere

I think it was Maloney who said that they wouldn't trade him for the #1 and he's obviously out now. I still say there's no way he goes anywhere.

The trouble with Ari trading OEL for Matthews is they are very thin on defense and defense prospects, and very full with (high-end) forward prospects.

If you're me and you get that top pick you trade down no matter who is at 2. I want Laine and I'm set with centers especially if we think there's a chance at Stamkos. Get a 2nd or a prospect and move down 1 spot and let Matthews go to whoever gets 2nd.

Just to make myself happy:
Kane-Stamkos-ROR
Laine-Eichel-Reinhart
Girgensons-Ennis-Moulson
Foligno-Gionta-Larsson

- Zschalberg

Eichel-Stamkos-Reinhart
Kane-O'Reilly-Ennis
Vesey-Matthews-Caggiula
Girgensons-Larsson-Foligno

Win the division

if you traded for fowler, signed stamkos

would your last move be to sign lucic or yandle?

- homiedclown

I think I'd hold on to $$$ for next offseason when teams will have to make desperate moves bc of the expansion draft

I'd only want one of those guys if it was for a 3 year deal

So for the Expansion Draft, what's the list of players we protect...realizing that if we add a guy with 7 letters, it will change ... if we go with

Eichel, Reinhart and McCabe are all excluded since they will be 2nd Year Players

Protect 8 skaters:
ROR
Kane
Ennis
Girgenson
Larson
Risto
Bogo
Pysyk

so, with Girgenson and Ennis...my thought is we hope they turn their game around from last year...if not, trade preferably or leave them unprotected.

- IonSabres

If u only protect 3 defensemen,
Then you're allowed to protect 7 forwards

The total combined becomes set at 8 if u choose to protect more than 3 defensemen

OEL is untouchable. Price they'd prolly offer is Strome, and maybe 2 firsts.

If you had Fowler and Stamkos on this team, next off season we may be one of those desperate teams trying to save their players

For those keeping track.

Brad E. Schlossman ‏@SchlossmanGF 23h23 hours ago
Drake Caggiula expected to make a decision sometime next week when he gets back to Grand Forks on who he will sign with.

No reports suggesting that he's visited with Buffalo yet. In fact, he's only reportedly been with the Flyers and are visiting with the Canucks this weekend.

Personally, I'd rather sign Vesey. But that's gonna take a while to see where he goes. Signing him, he's only a top 6 kind of player. That really clogs up the lines for forwards for future signings like that Stamko guy and pursuing Vesey... and/or others.

- TheSabresTaco

Supposedly he was going to visit all 6 teams on his list before making a decision
I'd definitely sign him
It's basically getting another 1st round pick talent

We can still go after Vesey & Stamkos
The crowding that would occur would be a good thing
Make these guys compete for spots & icetime

Eichel in no way is moving to wing.

Vesey isn't signing here to play on the third line.

Stamkos isn't signing here.

You are a dreamer though, I'll give you that.

How do u figure?

Protect 3 defensemen & 7 forwards

Fowler, Bogosian, Ristolainen
O'Reilly, Kane, Stamkos, Ennis, Girgensons, Larsson, Foligno,

Reinhart moved to wing
MacKinnon moved to wing
I can go on & on

Wherever Vesey signs, he won't be guaranteed a "line"
And it's not really a "3rd line" if you're playing with Matthews

We'll be a finalist on Stamkos' list

You lose McCabe in that scenario. It sucks, but you're going to lose someone. Can't not make moves because you might lose someone, otherwise you'll spend the next 2 years not doing anything

Why? Matthews is RNH in the making. I'm not trading a future Norris winner for that.

Sam has the speed and defensive ability to stay at center. He's a center. I'm putting ROR on wing instead because he doesn't have the speed that Jack does.

My fault...
Someone said earlier McCabe wouldn't have to be protected

What if we protected him & then only 4 forwards

That would mean we'd likely lose Girgensons, Foligno or Larsson
I'm ok with that

Wouldn't be too worried about how it would all come together

moulson , as bad as his production was, his point per minute on the ice, was not much lower than e. kane and much higher than the lion eater
- homiedclown

It's because his ice time got significantly chopped fairly early on. And Kane played a ton. 21:02 to Moulson's 11:54.
