There's definitely better ways we can go about things for sure
The problem is,
Seemingly good ideas from Dems will continue to get blocked by Reps bc they don't want the other side to look good

And it's "good business" for both sides to keep the status quo & continue getting rich while the average American pays for it

Reps & Dems general philosophies may be different...
But they really aren't when u look at the actions that are taken by these crooks

BOTH sides suck IMO

the government would provide day care

right now our country is probably paying 3-4 grand a month for everyone on welfare and there is no exit strategy

STOP THE HANDOUTS

- homiedclown

Does that include "handing out" tax breaks to business that take jobs overseas instead of here in the US?

Because that accounts for infinitely more $$$ then what we do for the poorest of the poor

Who says anybody should work at minimum wage? I don't. Get better skills and find a better job. Oh, and all those jobs going oversees started in earnest when NAFTA was passed, by Clinton.
- Khmylev

The problem with the minimum wage is that it stopped going up with the cost of living around 40 years ago. Now, when the economy is still largely not where it needs to be, it has bit the lower and middle class in the ass. The problem isn't the increase in minimum wage. It's the fact that the "catch-up" factor is so dramatic because the powers that be let it sit there for way too long.

I get your point. So yes i am mostly talking Arabs who are Muslims.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

So this is the problem with saying that we have to "ban all Muslims until we can figure it out."

For sure...
But why would they when they can continue to distract us with all their BS?
Keeps us arguing with each other instead of holding them accountable to make some REAL change
And they don't want things to change all that much bc both sides are just taking in the $$$
F*ckers

So it would be another bloated government expense which is the main issue right? Do you have any idea how much day care costs? For one kid 3 days a week it's 200. 5 days a week for 2 or 3 kids and it's over a grand.

That's more than what people get "handed" to them.

For some people, not working is the reasonable thing to do. Not everyone, and of course some people are lazy leaches. But not everyone

Also, it's a FEDERAL minimum wage.

If you think it takes the same amount of money to get by in Rugby North Dakota that it takes to get by in Chicago, your poorly informed. If you think its takes the same amount of money to get by in Rugby as it would in NYC or SF, you're nuts.

90 percent of the poor is stupid

they make those choices for free handouts for the rest of your life

at the warehouse I work at, a temp (they love to have temps fill 50% of the jobs where I work) got hit by a forklift and lost 3 toes

when it all settles, he will probably get 500 k

the other temps got caught trying to figure out how to get hit by a fork lift and get paid

disagree, you need an exit strategy to get them off welfare

make them become a welder, ditch digger, hair dresser, bar tender, etc

they live better then the lower middle class, on our dime

I bet if we made alaska the welfare state, move them all there, they would be motivated to get off of welfare

Look at how lazy he is, but standing still all bent over and waiting for a $11M a year handout.

Hell he didn't even play all the games this season, and will wait for another 4 months before he goes back to work.

I'm not really disagreeing with you
Of course there's pieces of crap that just try to take advantage of the system
There definitely should be changed made

I just find it ridiculous that Reps seem to always talk about all the handouts to the poor... But don't bring up the BILLIONS in handouts to the rich?

I kind of get it, bc in your everyday life, u only see how the one side abuses it
But if u actually stepped back & looked at how much $$$ is given out to the rich, then I think u might have a different perspective

And for the record...

I am NOT a democrat
I think they suck too
I do tend to lean bc of social reasons though (gay marriage, abortion, etc)

Exit strategy = if they get $200 a week for doing nothing, and can only earn $400 a week at an entry level job (which is a net loss because the daycare costs more), them them keep the $400 in the entry level job and give them $100 in bennies.

Boom. Problem solved.

Let's talk hockey.

It has to be worth it for them. That's the issue.

Some people are lazy f*cks, I agree. They need to have an exit strategy. But others need assistance, people with mental health problems, single moms, etc.
