Most sites have him predicted to go late first so he very likely will be gone by then but is a talent like that a no brainer at 33? |

Didn't know much about him before reading this today and was shocked to see how productive he has been. - belcherbd
(I think I am thinking of the same guy here...) He had a little hype at the WJC's before he was injured, big point producer but small guy. I think Bob Mac had good things to say about his build and expectations heading into the draft, to me he's an intriguing case. Playing with McDavid and Strome in the OHL would help numbers, (though I expect a better career than someone like Dane Fox ) but I am concerned with size in the West. If the Canucks haven't taken a Defenseman by then, I would rather take that shot I think |

I have the Predators winning a close one in OT 2-1
2nd Round Predictions:
- Washington running away against Pittsburg in 5 games (OV wants this one)
- Islanders in 7 (Momentum is everything sometimes)
- St. Louis in 6 (See Islanders)
- Nashville in 6 (San Jose last gasp gets choked off)
3rd Round:
- Washington in 6 (Islanders aren't there yet)
- Nashville in 7 (Nashville and St. Louis are due for a breakthrough but Nashville has the better defense and a slight edge in goal.
Cup Finals:
- Nashville in 7 (This one would be a pickem on the Las Vegas sports books, Washington looks like the uncrowned kings of the NHL with how they ran away with the President's Trophy, but I see this like the 2011 Final where Boston ended up taking advantage of a soft group that was riddled with injuries due to physical play, great goaltending and intimidation in their own building.

Goals? but Strome is still on the team, other than though I don't believe they had a really stacked team. |

I think all things being equal a defenseman makes the most sense in that spot but there are a few forwards who could end up there that would change that for me.
He is definitely a risk but very few players have put those numbers up. I would prefer to risk a 2nd on a player who scored 50 as 16 year old rookie over a 23 year old AHL allstar. |

5'7, and we whine about Subban being 5'9. |

It would be a hard choice for me. I don't downplay how impressive back to back 50 goal seasons are in any league, and especially doing it at his age. I just really would be hesitant on his size. If it turns out he was a good athlete but reliant on McDavid or Stome passes and cant score on his own, he may struggle playing bottom 6. Whereas picking someone with more size (like Gaunce for a bad example) can be utilized as a forechecker be effective physically. He could also turn into a Gaudreau and be the player that drives production on his line.
If the Canucks grab Cagguilia, then I say pass, but if he remains there at 33 I would think hard about which D are available |

Some do.... I agree he is small but while 2 inches important in some applications..... I don't buy that there is a difference between 5'7 and 5'9 when talking about hockey players.

I hear you but I think we need more high risk/ high reward players.
We haven't swung for the fences with an early pick since Grabner. |

Don't think we have the assets.
Shink and the 33rd might of been able to swing a late first. |

I really hope they try to make Hansen for a mid to late 1st a real possibility, seems like the perfect time to sell high and for a team wanting to contend next season to add a guy like him to their lineup |
