Maybe two this draft, three picks in the top 31.

Make it count.

- LeafMan

It's the second two picks where they need to hit a home run.

A chimpanzee can make the first pick.

That's what sucks though. He can't go to the AHL for another year. So one more year in the O and then one in the A?
- SolidGoldBricks

Ah ok, didnt know.

Man, thats tough. I dont know. I think a 3rd line starting point wouldnt be bad for him(to grow up and out of, down the stretch) , but if he's still small, he might get thrown around too much.

everytime i read about marner lighting it up the transfer agreement makes me angrier and angrier....

way to good for junior... his size and lack of pro experience make me hesitant to say he will be an immediate success.

i am sure babcock, if marner does play for the leafs next year, will have him on the ice with a couple vets

I just have a hard time seeing any good coming from sending him back to junior..

I'm still not sold that he will play a full season as a Leaf. I wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs move him to Europe for some reason.

They can't. If they are going to find a Louphole then why wouldn't it be the ahl.

Cause North America is stupid?

Does the transfer agreement include pro euro teams? I did not know that.

The agreement says that the player must stay with the chl until he's 20 unless he is with the nhl team. Only option is London or leafs. No in between

Yup. As as pointed out earlier, the reason it's done is to try to keep the talent in the leagues(and not flooding out to the ahl after the draft) because the chl is worried that the loss of those players would result in a decrease of attention and attendance. But what was said in the earlier post and I agree with is that teams wouldn't be hurt by the loss of these players. There is always a new player to mArket to build around. The fans of said franchise don't necessarily go to see specific players, they're cheering on local team and wan to see wins and effort. Losing mArner isn't going to stop people from coming out to knights games. They didn't stop coming when perry left, they didn't stop coming when Kane left and so on.

Knights sweep the Otters.

Marner had more points in tonight's game than Strome had in the whole series...1g 1a.

(Always thought Strome was overrated, glad we didn't get him.)
(Been watching all of the Knights playoffs...Marner is pretty ridiculous!!!)

He isn't the first player. We went through it with Grigoranko and it screwed him up.

WE cannot pull an Edmonton.. I agree draft best player this year and really work on strengthening D and Goal tending. Marner will Rip it in a couple seasons. I don't expect huge production this year... Just hope he don't get smoked with an open icer. After this years top pick...which will be a forward..Hunter has to pull his magic and land a gem on D or a few

Marner will be a great addition to this young exciting lineup. Unlike the Oilers, Buffalo Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay and New York Islanders the Leafs did it with solid management rather than perpetual bankruptcy - looking for welfare - in the way of NHL (mostly LEAFS) free handouts plus finishing dead last on purpose as all five have done to draft top picks. The Leafs have drafted first overall once since 1963 - that is since the draft was instituted. That was 1985 and we got Wendel Clark. I do not expect the Leafs to pick first as they have a much better chance of picking fourth than earlier - Thanks the the new NHL draft rules. Thankfully the Leafs do not need the number one pick pick. I am quite ok with the fourth pick - it is the worst case scenario - unless of course if Edmonton picks first again. Hopefully Lou can wrestle a number one goalie from somewhere - it should be a priority. Congratulations to the management team for doing it with HONOR.

I predict they win the first pick.
