Nice blog Lucas. Think Tkachuk is a lock at #4 if the Leafs get that pick? I'm also starting to lean toward Marner with the Leafs next season, at the end of the regular season I was saying he might not be physically mature enough yet but watching him dominate in the playoffs has slowly started to convince me he doesn't belong back in the OHL.

I know a lot of people are assuming Puljujärvi goes #3, but I do wonder if that is a guarantee... Could Tkachuk go before we pick? I think things get pretty interesting if we're picking 3rd or 4th... if we're 3rd, do we go with Tkachuk? If we're 4th, will he still be there?

Thank you kind sir, I am very confident Toronto would select Tkachuk. His roots, his skill, his play with Marner and overall hockey IQ...I really don't see them passing up on that.

But I've certainly been wrong before

Agreed, I just don't see them taking a chance on Dubois when they've got such close ties between Marner and Tkachuk already. I'm sure they've been able to have a really good look at Tkachuk's game by now. Obviously Alex Nylander would be a really interesting pickup as well but I don't see him going that early.

I think Pulju will go 3rd mostly because I've heard some scouts are still split on him or Laine at 2nd. Pulju is seen by many as the more complete two-way player, better skater, and play-maker. Laine obviously has the size, shot, physicality and is by no means a poor skater so I still think he will go 2nd based on that.

Also the way Dubois overtook Tkachuk as #1 NA skater makes me think it's even more unlikely Tkachuk goes 3rd (but I still think he goes before Dubois).

It's really tough to say though because Laine, Pulju and Tkachuk all look like studs at those picks so the eventual draft order could be based more on a subjective combo of need/preference and perceived personality/attitude.

I would like the Leafs to win the lottery. I will be saddened if they don't. I will also be saddened if that loser Stamkos doesn't come here to win the cup. I will also be sad if the Leafs draft 4th. I will be sad if the Leafs trade their other 1st rounder down. I will be sad if I toss off to video trying to time my release only to fire away when it quickly goes to the guys face. That's just the worst.

For real? I kinda like it.

I actually would love to see the Leafs be able to trade Pitts pick and some other asset to obtain Alex Nylander along with whoever they draft with their own pick. That's just a selfish dream to see Alex and Willy play together tho, it would probably be better for the Leafs strategically to take one of the top 3 D-men if they end up trading down into that territory.

I'd say Sergachev or Juolevi (Knights connection) in that situation*. But maybe something happens where Nylander slides outside the top 8 or so (Matthews, Laine, Pulju, Tkachuk, Serg, Juolevi, Chych, Dubois) and the Leafs trade down to around 10 with Pitts pick to take Alex..
