I might be in the minority with this but I believe the Caps are going to win this series against the Pens then blow through the rest of the playoffs to the Cup.
They faced a bit of adversity this first round and came through it fine.
They have a legit superstar, supporting offensive players, solid defense, experience, winners and the best goalie in the league right now.
TBH I hope they win for OV's sake..I love watching him play and their isnt a player or prospect on the Flyers I wouldnt package for him. - opeth_pa
it is a seriously interesting match up
Holtby will be tested way more then the Flyers did
I don't think you are wrong to favor the Caps, but either team really could win this.
No real heavy favorite here. |

Demers I could see. Maybe a bottom 6 depth player or two. I doubt he chases the big fishies - Mononoke
I think Demers will be too in demand and too expensive. |

Its really a shame you guys suffered the injury to Couturier. Felt like he could have made this a 7 game series after you guys figured out how to counter Washington.
Good series, should make it easier for the Pens to beat them with the good scouting information on how to and how not to play against them. |

meh losing is good for us right now it lets us know where we need to fill in the gaps with and without a full line up |

Was Anton Stralman a "bloated FA D signing"? I don't think he gets a bloated deal either. We need a RD and Myers could be 3 years away if he even pans out. The only reason I see is not pursuing him is because of AMac's cursed contract. You can't just have 6 prospects on the team, and frankly a veteran d group of MDZ-Demers would be pretty solid to have the young guys filter into.
Sanheim could need 2 years. Morin could take another year. And there's room for them too. I don't see how Lucic is a better signing. Now that's going to be a bloated signing that actually impedes in the future imo. - Mononoke
It was before my time here, but I was so pro Stralman. Had a lot of discussion with my friend about it. He is exactly what im talking about. They realized how underrated he was and made a play for him...and its paying off |

couts is such a vital guy for them
worst possible injury scenario was losing him
you could argue for others but to me he was their key guy |

I'd obviously would have enjoyed another game of many many hits for either team to come out on top. But you guys showed the way to stop the Cap's PP... that is really all that is needed it seems. 2 goals in 3 games without a PP goal is pretty damn sad. |

Again, I think he is actually worth what he will get...barring some Niskanen level insanity. And it wouldn't surprise me to see him a bit undervalued league wide. I just am not sure with a d man already making $5 million for 4 years on the roster Hexy jumps. It's a big factor unless there is now some semblance of a market. |

I would much rather "overpay" in terms of length of deal and $s for a legit top 4 R handed D man then anyone they could get for the the top 6 forwards.
It has been such a big hole for years and still is
unless voracek regains his confidence they need to think about replacing him on the right side of the #1 PP too... although I expect Jake will be much better next year |

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see that poop continue in that series. It'd be a nice, entertaining side bar for a casual observer. |

Maybe they need to get rid of Streit to not be a bubble team. He is Swiss after all. Notorious for staying in the middle. Could be a huge reason why they play well against good teams and poorly against bad teams. Really its just in their blood. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-sign in Dallas. They only have about $10m tied up in dmen. |

Neuvirth is the better goalie, and if you had a coach with half a brain, he should have been put in for the 2nd game, and maybe the series would different today. - newwave

I didnt see over rated, old, and poor defensively in my description
What I meant was if Hextall notices that a guy is underrated and can be had for a decent price and it upgrades the team, he will do so. Otherwise, he would rather just let teams outbid each other - YuenglingJagr
What if you can nab him for 4mil over two (2mil per)/
You take a flyer on something like that? Gives them time to acquire and develop some forward play. |
