good. he should go in there with his 1987 vic and slash everyone in the (frank)ing face, drop it on the desk, and then walk out. - hammarby31
He's laying the ground work to knock a game or two off the suspension, which is exactly what he should be doing
I really like our GM and coach, feel good about the future |

I cant for the life of me figure out why people wouldnt be on board with a fantasy signing of Stamkos at 26.
Sign me up every time... In 4 years Provorov, Sanheim and Morin will have joined Ghost on the team and if they havent then they have been traded for assets. In that 4 year time Stamkos would still only be 30.
It's a no brainer to me. Giroux, Stamkos, Simmonds, Voracek , Schenn and Couturier\Koneckny in a top 6 roal for the next 4 years. |

it's just a ton of money tied up in three players
who wouldn't want stamkos?
its the cap they have to deal with |

Hey if I can manage my team in NHL16 while being under the cap with how stacked my roster is than Hexy can too |

Yup but with what i would think will be a lot of ELC's over the next 2-4 years that becomes manageable. |

Cause you could use $11m of the Flyers cap in better ways over the next seven years. |

Tampa, judging by the fact he hasn't been extended. |

Personally here are a few thoughts from a non-Flyer fan:
- Do NOT sign any UFA this off-season.
- Trade some younger assets for a slightly more developed forward that is about to be an RFA (ie, find last year's Saad)
- Extend Neuvirth when the time is right. Mason is a decent G (think Reimer) and can be hot and cold, but I would prefer to retain the G with a better upside and I believe that is Neuvirth (and I thought that before 'the goal')
The last things I would look at, but something that I would give thought to, is dealing your franchise player, Claude Giroux. Yeah, yeah, I know I will take heat for this, but Claude isn't the same player he was just two years ago and his cold starts are very concerning.
Yes, of course he has a NTC/NMC but it is easy enough to test the waters with him. The return would also be huge. Now is the time.
Build your team around your youth on D....it will serve you well. - Dollars2Donuts
Ignoring the first part because i think its crazy talk as well.
I disagree with trading Giroux. It is an NHL16 scenario that you speak of. It wont happen and shouldnt happen in real life. He is a more well rounded player than he was two years ago. The return would without a doubt be less than you are thinking it would be.
They will make some signings but they will not be big splashes
I would be okay with trading for a more polished prospect, but I struggle to envision that scenario (maybe anaheim D, rangers arent a good partner)
They dont have to decide on the goalies until next offseason or possibly around the trade deadline.
I am not sure why you think Neuvirth has more potential. I personally disagree. I also disagree with Mason being hot and cold...dude has been consistent over his time here

You always have moves to make and things work themselves out.
Maybe one of the prospects doesnt make it.who knows what..
Its just not often that a UFA of the Stamkos quality at age 26 hits the market. Their are few players I go after hard in UFA based on quality and age..Stamkos, Hedman if he ever gets there (which he wont) ... Those kinds of players I would move on and make the cap work around them in a few years after the ELCs expire.

Hextall said there's a danger in going overboard on July 1 only to get buyer's remorse and think "Now what do we do the next X years?" |

Isn't it alarming to anyone else that Tampa Bay isn't making moves to "work around" resigning Stamkos? They could have let Coburn walk and used the savings in him, or traded one of Johnson/Palat (good players, but not "elite" players) to get the space required, but they chose not to. |

Hextall apparently did not get into the injury reports
He is waiting for the full list of surgeries to be known before that announcement |

He had 72 points last year, had 64 this year. He has not been the same the last couple seasons, elite as he still is. He isn't 50 goal 95 point Stamkos. Hell, he would've scored 6 more points than the "overpaid" Voracek in a pro rated season. He plays the same position on the PP as Giroux, isn't an all situations player, has declined in the stats department, and we are going to spend 11-12 mil a year for 7 years and think about the consequences later? Other players DO need to get paid in those 7 years.
He's awesome, but he's not highest paid player in NHL awesome to me. Maybe 3 years ago. We finally have maneuverability financially. Let's not spend it the first chance we get. Besides the fact signing him flies in the face everything Hexy has done, he has zero reason to come here, let alone for the discounted price many throw out. |
