Hamonic and Nelson/Strome+ doesn't equate to sh!tty assets that might not even turn out. That's two completely proven NHL quality, top-half-of-the-roster players. You don't make things any better or them any less likely to come in here by insisting that's all they're doing.

Those pieces are ALL more valuable to the Oilers than McDonagh, who doesnt play on the right and isnt actually a slam dunk top 10-20 defender in the NHL. Imagine the Oilers trade for McDonagh, paying more than anyone in their right mind would ever pay for a 35 point defender. They now have McDonagh, Klefbom, and Sekera on the left side. Darnell Nurse and Reinhart start the year in the AHL, Davidson slides over to the right even though he's also a lefty. They still have nobody better than Fayne on the right side, which the rest of the Western Conference laughs about while stomping the 2016-2017 Oilers to the ground. Sadly, without their pick or Hall/Drai/RNH to trade they cant upgrade their actual weakness.

Now it's 2017-2018, the Oilers have a NMC for Sekera, Klefbom is too cheap to even consider moving, and the team has blown a great player and a top 5 pick on McDonagh so he's going nowhere. Now they have to trade Reinhart (more laughter from the WC) and Nurse whose upside is in serious question since he cant even crack a garbage Oiler team.

Good job. You traded two great assets for nothing that helps and blew another year of McDavid's ELC. Classic Snowblind.

The Pens made the playoffs in Malkin's rookie year and the Hawks made the playoffs in Toews and Kane's 2nd season. The Isles took a while but finally got there in Tavares's 4th season. Hall? Eberle? Nuge? Still waiting. They've had some good seasons but have not made a difference in the standings as the Oilers suck just as badly now as they did back when Dustin Penner was their best player. So, like it or not, and call everyone who disagrees with you polar smokers all you want, but that hurts their trade value, buddy.

There is a decent list of current and future LD in the Oiler system 911 of which will stay in the system), there is a list of 3 RD, and two of them have expiring contracts this year.

McDou would be a great pick up. He is not what the team really needs right at this moment, they need him as a RD. So before PC trades for him I like to believe that PC will explore a RD first.

Well expansion should have been on his radar. Vegas & Quebec both approached the NHL long before they even started constructing buildings to see if the NHL was receptive to their visions. Foley approached the NHL in August of 2014, they started a seasons ticket selling campaign on February 10th of 2015. They sold 5000 ticket commitments in the 1st 36 hours. 10% deposit required. They achieved their goal of 10000 by April 15th.

I have been discussing NHL expansion plans for almost 2 years. Lyle Richardson shut me down repeatedly from even discussing it on his rumors chat boards for well over a year now. Long before last summer. I said it would happen by 2 teams following the summer of the 2016-17 season & I still think Quebec will get a team. Greed being the primary reason.

I am not beating my own drum. That is not my intention. I listen to the NHL network religiously, read a ton & it was a topic of discussion often. The writing has been on the wall for years & with both buildings construction schedules the timeline was obvious. Factor in the tumbling Canadian dollar starting in late 2014, bringing the cap to a grinding halt & teams need the money expansion provides.

Chiarelli should have known & been planing accordingly. A few other GMs have. Murray in Anaheim has said he sent players back to junior & or traded them for futures to be positioned for pending expansion!
