If it were me, I wouldn't be interested in substituting value for more assets
If halls going it's gotta be for a true stud defender.
Really hope we can acquire hamonic. But if it's not for nuge or ebs or maybe even the first; no deal - HB77
I can understand that - and I'm not saying edmonton would do it, only that I'd be interested to see if they'd consider moving Hall.
rnh is a solid player, I just don't have much interest in eberle myself. Not that either of us get to make the phone call, but for discussion it's interesting. |

In your own words, Mcd is "worth his weight in gold" and is a steal at under 5 Mil per year over the next three years. Yet, you frame each individual piece mentioned as being more valuable than that. Now you know what's wrong with Edmonton and mgmt there. They over value their players and as a result, have been suffering from analysis paralysis. Now, I wouldn't make the deal as structured by Brooks, he's a buffoon, but you have to look at your player roster more objectively. Mcd has been an all star and a team captain, yet you frame your left defense position as if all or any them will be that too. Very unlikely.
If I were PC and McD was available, I would look long and hard to see how to make a deal. - Old Pappy
There's absolutely no evidence to suggest chiarelli "overvalues his players"
Hell, there's not even solid proof mact did in anything beyond guesswork |

I don't think you can be as bad as Edmonton for this long and not consider any possibility
But realistically I don't see hall going
The tricky part is Identifying how they actually get better without gutting all of the actual positives

Shattenkirk is likely going to be available this off-season. Parayko has taken control of the 2RD next year and is a cheaper option for the Blues.
Shattenkirk only has a year left on his deal, but at a great price. |

The evidence in my mind is that he did very little this season in terms of player movement. Kassian, Maroon and Talbot.

I’m still hoping hamonic changes his mind and stays, but with pelech and pulock both looking good this year in the short time they’ve played, I think we’ll be okay if he is moved. That just means snow can hunt for a top line forward for Tavares using Hamonic as part of the package. I don’t know that he sticks to demanding a similar defenseman in return. |

To be fair – first year as GM and having to consider blowing up the team moving highly drafted players…it wasn’t unreasonable for him to wait until the draft given the oilers were already well out of playoff position and no harm in being patient.
If they show up at camp with the same roster I think you can repost that statement.

There's zero correlation between this post and overvaluing players as u suggested in your earlier post
We could argue that all 3 of those were very positive moves. They absolutely were
But there's any number of very plausible reasons why a big move wasn't made.
The pieces weren't there at the trade deadline when u put some thought into it in terms of who was selling/what they had/what they wanted/where we were etc |

If you were the Oilers GM you would do your best to add a player that doesn't play the position your team needs more than anything and you would give up your best tradable assets to do so? |

Totally agreed
a deep run could change his mind
And If it doesn't, I think the offseason allows snow to be abit more flexible on his return. Which also helps the oilers in terms of what we have to offer.

Personally, I think he should've been able to identify serious issues much earlier to make a move. But the neverending injury train probably didn't help.
And There wasn't any real plausible deals at the deadline.
And furthermore, who's to say he didn't try ?
We heard he tried to acquire Hamilton at the draft. We heard he dangled nuge for Jones. We heard he entertained some offers on yaks.
I heard he chased vatanen.
And that's just what was reported
But yes, if nothing is changed this summer, the haters can start generalizing his lack of action |

I'd be all over a deal for him. In terms of what he brings and the other "offensive" dmen options that have been mentioned like vatanen etc, ks is way better imo
Kind of on the blues bandwagon, but was also sorta hoping an early exit as that might force changes. Ie; shattenkirk
But the rub is that one year left on his deal. I'd pay dearly, but hed have to reup first
Also, parayko is an Effin beast. |

Outside of Edmonton, the rest of the hockey world tends to view RNH more realistically. He's NOT a great two-way center; he's small, fragile and even at a pro-rated full season - of which he hasn't yet proven - hasn't cracked 60 points.
If Edmonton wants a high level defender, it's time to pull something from the shiny pile of #1 draft picks which has so far garnered them bottom three in the league for how many years now. - jackzack87
6'1" 190lbs...at 23yrs old just two weeks ago. "small"? Where do you live? in that Avatar world? |

a long playoff run would up the asking price of rfa's thus moving KS a necessity. |
