That's why I said Shattenkirk & the #1 were the BASE of a deal. His top-end skill, with EDM need, & his fit, makes him an ideal candidate for them. The #1 isn't nearly as pressing of a need.

If necessary, I'm sure an extension could be agreed upon as well.

Well, my friend, I hate to kill your dream, but Colton Parayko is going NOWHERE. He's the #2 reason Shattenkirk is being shopped ($$$ being #1). When Shatty was injured early in the season, Parayko stepped up his game & showed he's gonna be one of the 2 best Dman on the Blues for many years.

As for any deal involving Shatty, I think you bring up a good point about draft position for the Oilers. As crazy as it sounds, I think if EDM gets #1 again it'll be easier to trade than if they end up, say, 2-5. Matthews is the clear #1, but he's a center & not what EDM needs. The next 4-5 players are wingers or dmen, which is more of a fit for them. No impossible, but more difficult.

Eberle isn't really a fit as it stands for the Blues. They're trying to shed payroll, not take on more. Ebs at $6 mil, in exchange Shatty, adds $1.75 mil to the cap. Plus, Tank is the top RW, & his contract plus Ebs means $14 mil on 2 wingers. That's not in the Blues' budget.

As you said, Shatty is definitely/most likely going to be the man leaving STL. I could see Edmonton sending prospects and draft picks back since STL is a little bit weak in terms of good prospects below the NHL level (Fabri and Parayko count as pros by now). Ebs is 99% going to be the player dealt for Hamonic if it happens since all signs are pointing to that (Okposo most likely leaving NYI is a big one).
