Snapper you might be too smart, logical, progressive, and truthful for the old boys network that is NHL management. Part of me wants to PM you and ask what you do, but I know it's none of my business. I'll just keep my nose in check and enjoy the posts. - 6628
Same here. Always well spoken.
Thought of you last night on double post shots and guys falling all over the place. Seemed ice was bad or guys were off their edges. |

He did, it was just in the old thread before the new blog was posted. I thought he and Seabrook both had their worst game in a long time last night.
Lackadaisical is the perfect word and honestly I kinda thought that's who Q was talking about when he said guys weren't "excited" enough. There was no urgency to Keith's play, his passes were sloppy, and he made a lot of unforced turnovers by stupid little backpasses that didn't go to their intended target - maria_wyeth
I agree with you 100%. I would even say he seemed uninterested on some plays.
Something has been a bit off with him all year, you could see it in his face IMHO. |

The summer will be interesting and a decision needs to be made with TT.
Because if he can't get strong enough to play center on the 2nd or 3rd line, then he
becomes Bowman's biggest trade chip. I think the 2nd line is the best fit....AA can play 3rd line.
But can TT matchup against big centers in the West??
His future here is not to play alongside grinders... - Al
Interested in ANY thoughts as I have recused myself on any TT predictions, forever. Maybe the biggest enigma as a hockey player as I've seen, and yea I know he's young.
That said do you, or anyone, think this kid can play NHL center?

Anyone have a thought on this? It's draft day 2014 and your drafting for the Hawks, do you take Robby Fabbri or Nick Schmaltz? http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2014e.html
Damn nice NHL rookie season for the 20 yr old Fabbri. - Mr Ricochet

I think Teravainen needs to get moved for #3-4 cost controlled D-man. This team does NOT need another perimeter player. Teravianen was invisible in this series on nearly every shift he played and there is no way Schmaltz can't at least match what TT brings.
I think Weise should be brought back if Stan can sign him for less than 1.75 mil. He has upside as a Shaw type player and I think I he can learn Q's system.
I don't see how they bring back Shaw unless he takes a HTD.
Ladd gone unless they move Hossa. Fleischman gone. - Bjm84
TT himself is cost controlled through next year, a reason he might not be moved. http://www.generalfanager.../teams/chicago-blackhawks

Brouwer fell on his face and still had the time to score the winner.
At first I thought the double post might have been in but when I saw that it went both posts that can't happen. Can't F anything up with my butt on the couch. Have a great summer Rain. |

Feel like the obvious, but highly disheartening, reality is to see what the market value of Shaw is... So, what is the market value of Shaw? And trust me, I do NOT want to see him go - BURDA13
Of course I don't want to see Shaw go, but I want to see this kid get paid before he gets killed. If the Hawks thought Kruger was so valuable they give him 3 mil per and I'm Shaw I say I'm at least as valuable and need to be paid as well.
Although IF Kruger can play 3C from here on out and put up 35-40 points, be a top PK guy and be over 50% and win 600-700 faceoffs he'll be a good deal at 3 mil per.

Tough problems to have, for sure, after 7 years of tremendous success. Aren't you glad these are our complaints (instead of being a team who says "yay, we won a game 7 finally). - RedFeather

Would like to see the Hawks start looking at some of the Defensemen from their new trade partner: the Hurricanes. - Hank3Henshaw
Jacob Slavin, but it ain't happening. Still think Jersey's John Moore has an outside shot at being a #4 Dman. Big body, ++ skater, 25 yrs old, 1.6 mil per through 17/18. TT might bring him here.

Kruger is starting to look like a huge mistake at 3 Million especially if Shaw exits
and not sure if Seabs got paid for "What he has done or what he will do in the future"
Love Brent Seabrook but seeing him receive a lot more than both Hammer and Keith is ridiculous ....praying he's not the next Bickel times 7 million $$$$

The Kruger signing is not a mistake. Assuming signing one means the other goes I still take Kruger over Shaw, but it's close. Kruger's absense would be felt much more than Shaw's. Look what happened to the PK when Krugs was out. Damn salary cap. |

3 Cups in 6 years bozo. The Canucks are still searching for their 1st - EnzoD
3 in 7 now, Zo........... And who knows what next year brings but IMO this was Q's poorest overall result from start to finish.

Toews and Co have at least 1 more Cup in them. This will be another interesting summer to see Stan address the Cap and the Defense....still sour about the game bc I think Hawks would've beat Dallas in 6 fun games |

TT in his first full season had 13 goals and 22 assists = 35 points...yes a big zilch vs the blues...Q trusted him defensively and on the Pk....
yet it feels like he regressed and was huge disappointment - bogiedoc
In his defense bogi, Q you yoed the kid, a rookie, playing him on his off wing (LW), up and down the lineup, moved him to center then back to wing at the end of this series.
Unfortunately for StanBowPops&McD they have no more of an idea where he fits, if anywhere, than they did to start this year.

The situation isn't that simple. You'd have to factor in Shaw's replacement. But I'd lean towards Kruger + Shaw's replacement. |

I'm sour about the lineup decisions early in the series. Other than that I'm proud of by ground to dust core and Crow too, even though he gave up more goals on less shots than did Elliott.
He needed top stop that 40 foot screen shot. He was out of position IMO.

Bowman made a push for the back-to-back "dynasty" status in an era where winning back-to-back is seemingly impossible. Hindsight 20/20, the Blues looked like world beaters. Had the hawks taken them, I think the road would have gotten easier with each round. Hard to push that many chips on the table and bow out in round one, but when the window is open, it's always inching to a close, you owe it to the players, the fans and the franchise. You do what you need to do.
Things look bleak as we head into the offseason, but we get something we haven't had in years; rest. While we will once again suffer cap casualties (Shaw and possibly another core piece), Stan seems to be more in lock step with Q with each passing season. If they can stitch this tapestry back together a bit better than they did last offseason, look for another team that tries to meld together through 82 on their way to another long run.
It's not going to be easy, but this core has at 4 legit years left. Turn it over and run it back. Richard Panik (like Bolland, like Frolik, like Smith) is not a really good player, he is the result of a GM understanding his teams needs and a coach understanding where that need fits. Let's give this thing a few more runs before we reminisce on likely the greatest cap era dynasty ever. |

Fair enough I would take Shaw and Danault ....finding a player with Shaw's heart won't be easy if possible at all
Not sure why there's all that love out ther for Kruger
Small....very little offence....average average player...worth 1.5 million as a PKiller not worth 3 million

Kane game took a big step forward during the year of the lockout and he has steadily improved each year after. He has a better shot, stronger to the net and the part you touched on he can create space for his own shot.
