23 and entering his prime years. I hope they don't give up on him. - Phenom
I'm guessing percy is moved if he has trade value. Waiver eligible will force a move is my bet.
Hard to see him in the top 7 next year.

Anyone know of some good golf courses within 25-30 mins of the Rogers center?
Planning a bachelor party, was going to book glen abbey but we have a bunch of guys going that aren't avid golfers and don't want to spend $220 a round. - bryant
Lowville Golf Course (in Burlington) courses are wide for average golfers but lots of slopes and still challenging at greens.
It was my favorite when I lived in Mississauga.. heh |

If you want a young pair of D men that are responsible in the D zone, Harrington and Percy would be a good 5th and 6th, both can kill penalties, Harrington is physical, Percy can move the puck.
Leafs have too many 4/5/6 type guys on defense ... Carrick, Percy, Harrington, Loov, Corrado, Valiev and maybe Marincin - though Babcock really likes him may have him as a top 3 ... Not sure where Zaitsev fits in either ... but looking like a 3/4 type guy....with so many of them out of options - some are going to be moved. Just have no idea what the value is and what we can expect back. |

all 3 ? Seems unlikely.. maybe 1 of them, and the other on waivers. I think 1 of those last 3 guys I mentioned will be the 7th dman . - MCharisma91
NO, I would build the farm to be as strong as possible, if I am Shanny. Keep who you can, and move the ones you can't. |

always said, let the kids play, especially on the blue line . Let them learn together with the big club.
Rielly - Hunwick
Gardiner - Russian dude
Percy - Harrington ?
where does that leave guys like Corrado, Marincin, and Carrick? - MCharisma91
thats why i am not sure you see percy until someone is moved.... its going to be an interesting off season.... i would not be shocked to see the leafs sign a vet d man to help stabilize and teach.... if they do go this route... it will be a guy who is responsible in his own end and moves the puck out well.....
truth be told... the leafs have a lot of 2nd/3rd pairing young defensive depth... teams up against the cap looking for reliable youth for bottom pairing duties might be willing to overpay a bit. |

Can Carrick jump in next yr and be a 2nd pairing dman ? because Gardiner is that right now. If he gets dealt for some goaltending or packaged for a top 10 pick, we'll need someone to play top 4 mins .. Besides Rielly/Hunwick .. ? - MCharisma91
Pretty sure another vet D men will be brought in. Gardiner will always be a brain cramp D man, not even Babcock can change that. |

Let's see, not good enough to crack the top 7 on the Leafs......
I would say the value is virtually zilch |

Guys, I know he's not 29, I was exaggerating to make the point that he's reaching the age where they need to poop or get off the pot. Maybe I should have said 34 or something to make that more clear. I've failed you. - 1979AD
he was a late first rounder.... and a d man to boot... not unusual for guys like that not to crack an NHL roster full time til they are mid twenties. |

I used to play there often as well. It's been a year or two now but they were having some serious problems with temporary greens and it was not worth the money. Definitely check that before hand. |

One or two will be traded, then you will have the bottom two and extra be a battle between, Harrington, Percy, Marincin, Carrick, Loov and Valiev minus the one or two traded. They may even carry 8 to start the season. |

you never know... i think a comparable on a currently competitive team would be taylor chorney on the caps
different draft years of course but chorney was only selected 11 spots after percy's draft position of his year (chorney: 36th / percy: 25th)
chorney only cracked a full time roster this season (and thats being generous)... as a 27 year old (he's 28 now)
all i am trying to say is that reliable bottom pairing guys dont typically crack nhl rosters until their mid twenties or later.

Using only plus minus to make a point for a young dman is an irresponsible way of looking at his play and potential. |

Injured almost the whole year. Jan. 3rd was his last game, I believe he suffered a season ending shoulder injury. |

be interesting if they move a couple of their young d men for a couple extra picks
or... if they are looking at someone like shattenkirk... young D prospects would likely be sent back the other way
a move like that would drop someone like hunwick down to the 3rd pairing (where he belongs) and shattenkirk would be a great top pairing addition, as he is a rightie and rielly shoots left.
like i said... be an interesting offseason... there are so many directions the leafs could take atm. |
