That was a bit of a statement series for this Pens team. Not only demolishing any demons of the past few years, but just showing "our game works in the Playoffs".

Let's take a moment of silence and remember that Phil Kessel has six points, three goals in those five games. Samuel, thoughts?

I almost bought a Kessel jersey today for the game but did not want to jinx him. I bought a Dumolin one bc I really like him and 2, he hasnt scored yet to be jinxed anyway!

i'll say it again. (frank)ing kessel. he helps big time.

it will be much harder against the size of the caps. but man, (frank) the narratives. dude showed up that series. having his right handed presence helps on the powerplay. and that shot off the rush was orgasmic.

i still cant believe how it turned out that its actually much better to NOT play him with crosby or malkin.

Bingo. He seemed to know exactly when to pick his spots & just know right when to make his presence known. But not even him... the team speed & youth. This team just straight skates circles around so many of these guys.

sheary is a revelation on the first line. from top to bottom these lines are perfect right now.

kunitz cant keep up on the first with how crosby plays, but he can fit with malkin and fehr for now.

the fourth line, you really couldnt ask for much more right now. all for a total of less than 3 mil haha

Wow that's an impressive series win. Nice to see Phil doing well. I thought they would be deadly with him, but they weren't until after the coaching change. This is more what I thought it would be like. Scary.

Exactly. It's like rolling 2 1st lines, a 2nd line & a 3rd line to be honest. And everyone has at least a reasonable bit of offensive instinct. Malkin has chemistry with Kunitz and his east/west game helps make it easy for Kunitz to keep up even though he's a north south player.

What is everyone's favorite rags fan saying at the beginning of the series?

Mines "it doesn't matter the pens won the season series. The past doesn't matter" Typically followed only a few posts later by "we gonna bounce them like the last two years".

malkin is just better when he has the puck on his stick at all times. thats what he is, for better or worse. and it works, because kunitz and fehr both struggle with the puck and excel away from it. so not only do they compliment him, but it gets the most out of two guys that could struggle elsewhere.

same with kessel on his line. right now, they have it fitting well to where the stars are able to maximize their strengths, while simultaneously getting the most of out their linemates. give sully loads of credit for not feeling the need to reconfigure it to accomodate malkin.
