I just ran it once....first time in a couple of weeks.
Carolina
Vancouver
Boston
That would really throw the league on its ear.

nothing official yet i don't think, but it sounded like they were leaning towards guys with NMC's have to be protected but guys with NTC's being free game. - Tumbleweed
Anyone on an entry level contract is off-limits too I believe. |

right. combined that with a small number of teams looking to add goalie.
pitts fans are going to have their lu/Schneider price shock moment. - Tumbleweed
I'm not expecting a huge return on fleury. I proposed kapanen and our 1st back. So a late first and a guy whose probably a good mid 6 forward. It's more of a clearing salary move since we can replace him internally at elc price. Those are all non-core assets for Toronto and something you do to not have to worry about the goaltending position while the young core gels.
Fwiw there were strong rumors Calgary was offering Sam Bennett or Doug Hamilton for Murray. So the goalie market isn't that bad for sellers. |

Only first two years of elc. |

Highly doubt Pittsburgh is moving Murray. He's their future in net and with the expansion draft coming MAF might become available at the draft. (especially if the Pens make a playoff run with Murray) 5.75 per for 3 years is in the bottom half of salaries for starters. Statistically he's been excellent the last two years... 31 years old. Wonder If the leafs would inquire should he become available. - Brianandr1
Here is the thing about the expansion draft....there will likely only be one expansion team. So, all of this angst over that should just settle down.
A 32 year old G will not be any expansion team's choice. Any expansion team should only be drafting for value, not to make up a roster. Every single pick should just maximize value and then they can use those assets to build a team properly through trades.
It is likely that every single good team out there will lose one decent mid-20's player. No matter what each GM does they will all likely be in the same position. That is just the reality.....so to make every move right now based on that expansion draft is....well, silly. |

I've never been a big fan of Fleury and don't believe he's a goalie that steals his teams some games here and there. - RickJames77
I don't think he is either. I think he's a second grouping goalie but has done it for a long time probably something in the range of 8-15 in terms of top NHL goalies. For the regular season he steals you games in shootouts but that isn't important in playoffs. |

The issue is by the time Toronto's young players fully come into the fold, fleury will probably be in his last year or so.
Not worth it for them IMO |

I could be wrong here, but I thought you could choose some combination of protection. These aren't the actual rules but say for argument sake:
Keep 6 forwards, 2 D, 2G
Or 8fwd, 3D, 1G - RickJames77
do you really think the pens would protect a 33 year old goalie? (fleury's age next summer)... cause i dont. |

source?
the market i know is actual trades. schneider got an 8th overall. i don't think murray has as much trade value as schneider did.
if fleury is not a dump, i don't think toronto will have anything to do with him.
good luck finding another team that is interested in a +30 year goalie making almost $6M.

That has nothing to do with what I said
You made a generic post about how the value of goalies in the trade market were going down and then mentioned Anderson. I remembered hearing there was some sort of combination and was wondering if there was one that involved keeping two goalies. I.E. if a team had two young goalies they didn't want to get rid of. Not saying a team would or would not want to do that, just curious. |

Leafs will sign Staal..., same for MTL...we get the rejects When is the last time a star player signed in Canada while being UFA? - Symba007
Toronto will get a high profile UFA long before Montreal does. There is no desire among Americans or non French Canadians to play there. |

bennet/hamilton sounds more like pitts asking price as a opposed to calgary's offer ... or just a false rumor.
