Lol what was Schenn doing on that goal - Cfser
Schenn is a good depth dman, he's just playing too many minutes due to their lack of depth on D from a few years ago. This LA team is not the same as a few years ago. |

I wonder if anyone will pay him more than $2M as a free agent. That'll be interesting to see. |

the most important area to be addressed has to be goaltending. without a legitimate #1 goalie, we can't truly attract those big name free agents. as much as i want stamkos to come to toronto, it makes more sense to land a #1 goalie, and hold out for next summer and hope tavares comes to play in toronto. tavares > stamkos
but if stamkos comes, i'll be more than happy - matt1337
Tavares isn't a UFA until 2018. |

Matt Murray probably isn't available at a price you would be willing to pay. If he leads the pens to a cup or even gets us past the capitals his value as a 21 year old proven goaltender would be astronomical. And I'm not sure you have anything outside of Austin Mathews to get it done.
But if we play the game that you win the Matthews sweepstake. Use the addition of him to sell Stamkos on signing on to the team. You are instantly a playoff team and maybe more if you fix the defense and goaltender situation.
Would your rebuild be far enough along to make a move on a Fleury? He's 31. Reasonable 5.75 cap hit with 3 years remaining. Current concussion is concerning but his play this year has probably been top 10 goalie. Likely to finish his career top 3 in career wins and has been very durable for a long time.
I think the asking price would be reversing the kessel trade. Send us back our 1st and kapanen. Don't care about Harrington I think he's a bottom pairing at best now.
And the one rumor is you guys could have had your choice of pouliot kapanen or murray last summer if your pushed harder. Pouliot for sure not sure if murray would have happened.
Basically in that scenario if you add 2 top 4 dmen you are a legit fringe contender next year. Fleury who knows how guys age but he hasn't shown it yet. Gives you 3 years and probably an extension to develop a young goalie. |

Crazy talk, I didnt get past the part where #44 or less gets that done, Captain Morgan would be over payment
or a mix of our prospects and draft picks and cap space
Morgan Rielly or Matt Murray

I don't think Matt murray is available for anything less than a huge overpayment. Leafs can't offer the Penguins cap space. Chris kunitz is our worst contract and I believe it has one year left and theres a good chance we can move him for a pick. Most pens fans think murray is the future and will help our cap by trading a fairly priced vet goalie and going with a elc guy.
Morgan Reilly has zero value to the Penguins because of the expansion draft. You can only protect 3 defenseman or 4 if you sacrifice your forward protection. Letang Maata and Dumoulin are all must protect players. And Pouliot is basically trade or protect.
Everything is pointing to fleury being the guy dealt. Not sure if he is too old for your rebuild time frame. If he was 29 would be perfect for you. At 31 he's old enough that a team needs to be close to add him. A package of picks would work for fleury since it's good for us in the expansion draft. |

Rielly is far better than both these guys.
I get it, the pens are good and you're over valuing your players.
But Matt Murray isn't worth nearly what you think and neither are Maata and Dumoulin.. |

Kopitar right up there as most overrated player in the whole league.
He's good but I want more than 25 goals from the best player to ever grace this earth |

Same amount of points as an offensive beast like Tarasenko while also being one of the best defensive centers in the game. So overrated. |
