Bernier would have to unloaded somewhere before any goalie of MAF calibre comes into the conversation - jimi james
pitts would have to take him back |

I agree that Kapenen and a 1st is to much... Any deal would have to center around prospects and Picks - Brianandr1
not from toronto.
if we're packaging picks/prospects for a goalie, it better be for a younger goalie on a cheaper contract. |

that's an option.....bernier has 1 year left at less than what MAF makes...
but if we are to go the vet route, there are def other goalies to look at who may or may not be a better fit than MAF |

If the Pens decide to move MAF my guess is they will get multiple offers... My guess is they would be looking for a 1st
A lot of speculation here in NYC that Hank could get moved if the Rangers lose to Pittsburgh... That would take a boat load!!!! lol |

Of course he's worth Matthews, if they redid his draft he would've went 1st overall! - daeth
I didn't propose Matthews. It was more of an implication that murray is untouchable barring something silly like a franchise center. We are not going to move a franchise 21 year old goalie for spare parts when we are already happy with our spare parts surrounding our franchise players.
Thing with murray is he hasn't done anything negative in the last 2 years. Absolutely dominated the ahl at a level that I don't remember another goalie doing. In his brief NHL time he's been elite. Lundqvist was a 6th round pick. He probably won't be that good but considering murray as a 3rd round pick prospect at this point is ludicrous with his performance lately.
He's not as purely physically talented as MAF who might be the most athletic goalie of all time but his mental game is far superior.
For the pens MAF for some combo of picks prospects or a stud lw makes sense. |

If murray is as good as you claim, than a goalie needs to be moved this summer. if the pens do nothing, get ready to sit back and watch a Vancouver debacle go down.
if MAF is on the market, you'll be selling into a market with weak demand for goalies; you'll be looking at a Lu type return. |

Carey Price is probably the only goalie in the league that gets you a franchise center. |

I'm not expecting a huge return on fleury. I proposed kapanen and our 1st back. So a late first and a guy whose probably a good mid 6 forward. It's more of a clearing salary move since we can replace him internally at elc price. Those are all non-core assets for Toronto and something you do to not have to worry about the goaltending position while the young core gels.
Fwiw there were strong rumors Calgary was offering Sam Bennett or Doug Hamilton for Murray. So the goalie market isn't that bad for sellers. - sditulli
You would be fortunate to get Kapanen back, and I don't even think he has an NHL career ahead of him. |

my guess is after his NTC eliminates 12 teams, that between teams set in net and other options (andersen, reimer etc.) their won't be much of a market.
if there is a bidding war, the leafs need to stay out of it.
only reason the leafs should be interested in MAF is if there is an opportunity to acquire a veteran goalie on the cheap. |
