Really? Weren't you going to retire his number a month ago?

I too love what Dom brought us, but he is replaceable. Time to move on. That only saves $1.5 though.

Eberle+?

I think Hamonic for Eberle is a fair 1 for 1 swap

Vigneault's inability to see what lineup worked best definitely played a huge part in how this season took shape.
- MidnightMarauder

Staal-Hayes-Lindberg was fine. But again, Nash-Brassard-Miller and Kreider-Stepan-Zucc did nothing for much of the series, so all hand-wringing about third line is overshadowed by the top-six's inability to produce

Fact of the matter is the reason they're down 3-1 and lost both their home games in my opinion is off their horrendous alarming effort. Coach has cost them all year with his horrendous personnel decisions and constant favoring of vets even though the young guys were the better players at the time. McIlrath plays game two , they defend well, and wind up winning the game out hitting them while racking up 57 hits. Sit McIlrath, team has been way less physical and has gone 0-2 since while getting humiliated at home. Last four playoff home games, out scored 12-1. 12-1!

It sounds like they are going to grant him his request as long as the return is what they are looking for.

I just think Toronto would love to get him. Babcock likes him from what I remember in the olympics. As a detriment to a contender like he was here, a rebuilding team is perfect for Nash. One thing about Nash, as a two player it would rub off on a young team. Wether or not JVR is gettable is another thing, but I think it's an obvious trade partner for him. The salary wouldn't hit them as hard as other teams. Honestly I would take a fairly decent prospect and a 2nd rder just to get Nash outta here
- Slimtj100

Don't forget that Uncle Lou is pulling the strings up there. No way he would trade for Nash.

So they can go out with every social media outlet blaming Girardi for everything.

No handwringing about the third line but not trusting the kids has doomed this team. Playing Boyle and Girardi over McIlrath, on a steady basis, is another example of this.

I think you're wrong.

I didn't say Eberle + Draisaitl. But if you're going to tell me that we're going to give them a top pairing defenseman that makes under $4M for the next 4 seasons for a streaky, under-sized winger that makes $6M...I would have to think that you've been huffing some store-brand glue.

Nash can still be a dynamic regular season player. He's not completely washed up. There not a cup contender for 3-4 years anyway I don't see what he would have against him. They need to be marketable and Candadian people love Candadian players, especially hometown guys. The return for Nash is almost irrelevant (needs to be worth something obviously) it's about getting new blood in here and out with the old blood. First up in that is Boyle, then I think it's Nash

Not saying the Rangers are definitely coming back, but they were dead in 2014 down 3-1 to the Pens (and dominated similarly in Games 3 and 4 at MSG in that series, if I remember correctly). They were also dead last year down 3 games to 1 and 1-0 to the Caps with 2 minutes left in Game 5 - I don't have to remind how that series ended. I think it's a bit revisionist to suggest that this is a different team - those teams weren't viewed as "different" until they actually made those comebacks. They still have the guy between the pipes who is the toughest to close out a series against in this era.

Have you ever known Lou to part with money? He makes the Scots look like Warren Buffet. No way he takes on that contract.

Like Peter Griffin once said, don't take this the wrong way.

"Chinese , Japanese , dirtyknees, what are these"

Wouldn't have mattered what ethnicity or whether or not he is Canadian or not. Toronto is not taking that guy. I would be downright shocked.

Your missing my point. They need to put a viable product in the ice for a few years. That current kind of roster ain't gonna fly there, they gotta pay someone haha. I see your point tho.

We all hope you are right and yes, they did look lifeless in both series, but the underlying issues that have existed all year are all coming to the forefront at once.

Rangers showed fight, despite trailing 3-1, in each of thos two series you mentioned.

They look lifeless here and Pittsburgh is capitalizing on every single Ranger mistake.

Diaz and Boyle manning pp2. Shake ups on the pp it seems. McDonagh rotating on pairs with Diaz and Skjei. That means what exactly? Will he dress Saturday?

I get your point and it's a good one -- i.e., not being viewed as different until they actually came back. But, those teams went into the playoffs strong and they had better overall seasons, so there were some positives to draw off in hoping for a come back. This team really hasn't been consistently good in quite some time.

I'm just not seeing it this year, unfortunately.

Add Miller
- MiloslavHorava

Is anyone else somewhat skeptical of Miller?

I know the kid is talented and he has always put up good numbers in the AHL, but up until this year he was pretty hot and cold on whether he would ever be much in the NHL beyond a good energy bottom 6 guy who occasionally chips in goals here or there.

I know he had a big jump in performance/production this year, but I dont think its any coincidence its coming in a contract year, and every team has been burned countless times over the years on guys who are playing for the next contract then settle in. If Gorton can bridge him then sure some of the risk is mitigated, but what if he tries to lock him in long term? Also, even with a bridge, whats the rate looking like? $3+ per?

I have to make an observation that has really bothered me to the fullest all season. Last night I saw it during a critical powerplay which could have put them back in the game...

What is it? Odd line times for line changes. I recall one game which they changed while the other team was rushing up the ice in OT. With only one guy back, the puck was in the net and game over. Last night, I saw a line change during the powerplay where four guys changed while the last Ranger on the ice dumped the puck into the Pens zone. Who the blue fvck does that? Are you hoping the fans can willfully keep the puck in the zone until the whole team changes lines? i don't get it. Surely I am not the only one who sees this. I don't get it

Fair enough, but we all know Toronto isnt going anywhere before Nash's contract ends. So it hard to imagine they part with any assets of significance just to acquire Nash to provide a good locker room and on ice example. Thats typically what you do with veteran FAs to just serve as a stopgap for kids and be mentors (a-la Gionta and Legwand in Buffalo right now)

Not to mention a Toronto first is just a few picks removed from other teams 1st round pick at this point. I think Toronto would take a flier on Nash if NYR were really desperate to move him and his contract out for a song, which likely is plausible
